Sorry, but that's nonsense.

And I don't know what things "windoze users" would expect, but AFAIK Windows
doesn't even have an option like "Create New"->"Link to Application".

Anyway, that's out-of-scope for this bug report.

Yes, that function is broken at the moment, and we will fix it. But it's not
critical, period.
