Reflection is C++ ?

Hi, how can I perform "reflection" in C++ ? Is it possible? My situation is as follow: application will consume a string that contains whitespace-separated fields. One of the field describes the class name. Based on this string, I'll create the appropriate objects. Currently Kile doesn't offer quick access to print utilities, it does allow you to print the plain source text. Easy access to the standard print and postscript utilities are planned for the future. Dear my friends... I am absolutely new in LaTex. I am trying kile to make me easier learning LaTex. gdb question

I've just installed SuSE 8.1 (on i386), upgrading from SUSE 7.2, and am having some trouble getting gdb to work: > cat hello.c #include <stdio.h> int main () { printf("Hello, World\n"); } > gcc -gdwarf hello.c > gdb ./a.out GNU gdb 5.2.1 Copyright 2002 Free Software Foundation, Inc. (gdb) list 1 init.c: No such file or directory. in init.c (gdb) This, with the compiler that came with 8.1. Does this look framiliar to anyone? It works ok if I do a 'gcc -g hello.c'. I need the dwarf because I'm using Absoft's f77 compiler. I had no problem on 7.2, and I've downloaded and tried that version of gdb (5.0) but it doesn't work either. any suggestions? thanks. -Ben

C++ pointer to function confusion

Hi, I'm creating a C++ wrapper to API written in C. One of the C function takes a pointer to function as an argument: cfunction(int (*callback)(int, *char[])); The wrapper uses a pure virtual function: class Process { public: virtual int run(int i, *char[]) = 0; }; Problem is, how to "convert" run to "callback"? I've tried cfunction(&Process::run), but g++ keeps complaining: cannot convert `int (Process::*)(int, char**)' to `int (*)(int, char**)' for argument `2' to `s_m_process* MSG_process_create(const char*, int (*)(int, char**), void*, s_m_host*)' -- -- Verdi March --

Glade and autoconf problems

I am having problems compiling output from Glade (using the default settings, except for unselecting gettext support). Running autogen.sh provides the output below. Here are the two final lines, and the suspected errors. generating X-events

Hello All, I am trying to make a program that inserts events into the X-Event queue of a certain program. What i try to do is generate an event and use XSendEvent to transmit it to the currently active window. For some reason however, the program 'xev' shows the events i am transmitting. My own program (and other programs as well !) that i am trying to test do not receive the events transmitted. Here is a line of output of 'xev' when the program is running and the xev window is in focus : ButtonPress event, serial 27, synthetic YES, window 0x1, root 0x0, subw 0x1, time 0, (234,123), root:(1,1), state 0x0, button 1, same_screen YES Note that the serial number of the packet is numbered up, however i don't know what the start value should be (if there is any). When i fix the serial number to 0 the behaviour of the program stays the same. There are a few other options that i don't know how to set and i don't know if they should be set, these are event.xbutton.time, event.xbutton.time, event.xbutton.state, event.xbutton.button. I don't exactly know what they are used for and i don't know if they have something to do with my problem. examining the heap

Does anyone have suggestions for a good way to find out what (local) pointers are pointing at what items on the heap? I have a bug in a program that's almost certainly caused by two pointers pointing to the same object when they should be pointing to separate ones. Treat this as a 'newbie' question. The answer might be a debugger, but I haven't had a bug serious enough to use a debugger in four years - one of the benefits of using c++ - so I've forgotten how to use one. working with bits

Hi, I am trying to do a NOT operation but it doesnt seem to work well: unsigned int i=8; printf("%d \n", ~i); This is suppose to print 247 but I get -9 Any ideas of what am I doing wrong ? BTW, I am just practicing on playing with bits.. Thanks, Raul
