Notes/Domino generally uses TCP 1352 for all NRPC traffic. You might try searching the Notes/Domino 4 & 5 Forum or the Notes/Domino 6 Forum at http://www.notes.net for more help. Ok Thanks Arjen But I am using 7.3 & I dont have ip-up.local scripts by default, can I just create it? I see the ip-up script does look for startfw2 = yes in the rc.config but I didn't touch my ip-up script up until now ? For now it does. The /etc/ppp/ip-up (and /etc/ppp/ip-down) script may be updated if there are updates in the package. Localization should be done in the /etc/ppp/ip-up.local and /etc/ppp/ip-down.local scripts. They will be called by the /etc/ppp/ip-up and /etc/ppp/ip-down scripts and will NOT be touched. Restarting the firewall should be done automatically by the /etc/ppp/ip-up and /etc/ppp/ip-down scripts, provided you have not messed around with the configuration files. In SuSE 8.1 this is done with the FIREWALL variable in the end of /etc/sysconfig/network/config (set to YES). If you properly configure this, the firewall will be restarted when needed. Arjen

Hi Uli My problem is when my server restarts and I dial in nothing works, then I must first restart my firewall with /sbin/SuSEfirewall2 stop & /sbin/SuSEfirewall2 start wile online (dialed in) then only can I talk to the other PC's on my LAN. In your case, I'd simply edit the dial-in script (if it's a script and not a single command) and put the command to shut down the firewall in the beginning of the script and the command to start it up in the end. Or make a script like this and execute it: #!/bin/bash /sbin/SuSEfirewall2 stop <original dial-in command or script> /sbin/SuSEfirewall2 start If you dial in at startup, you can put this script into the rc directory and create a symbolic link in the appropriate runlevel directory. But then you have to modify this script as these rc scripts are always called with some parameter (start, stop...). Should also work without modifying (i.e. without parameter), simply try it out. While this service is being considered valuable and important to the free and open source software community, many users wish to be sure about the origin of the package and its content before installing the package. There are two verification methods that can be used independently from each other to prove the authenticity of a downloaded file or rpm package: 1) md5sums as provided in the (cryptographically signed) announcement. 2) using the internal gpg signatures of the rpm package. 1) execute the command md5sum <name-of-the-file.rpm> after you downloaded the file from a SuSE ftp server or its mirrors. Then, compare the resulting md5sum with the one that is listed in the announcement. Since the announcement containing the checksums is cryptographically signed (usually using the key security(a)suse.de), the checksums show proof of the authenticity of the package. We disrecommend to subscribe to security lists which cause the email message containing the announcement to be modified so that the signature does not match after transport through the mailing list software. Downsides: You must be able to verify the authenticity of the announcement in the first place. If RPM packages are being rebuilt and a new version of a package is published on the ftp server, all md5 sums for the files are useless. 2) rpm package signatures provide an easy way to verify the authenticity of an rpm package. Use the command rpm -v --checksig <file.rpm> to verify the signature of the package, where <file.rpm> is the filename of the rpm package that you have downloaded. Of course, package authenticity verification can only target an un-installed rpm package file. Prerequisites: a) gpg is installed b) The package is signed using a certain key. The public part of this key must be installed by the gpg program in the directory ~/.gnupg/ under the user's home directory who performs the signature verification (usually root). amavisd-sendmail.rpm SuSE8.1 Pro Setup

Hello list, I retrieved amavisd-sendmail.rpm (23-Oct-2002) from people/link/amavis/SuSE/8.1 for mail scanning incoming and outgoing mail on my new SuSE8.1 server running sendmail 8.12.6 coming with 8.1. I also retrieved the missing Perl-modules and changed the /etc/amavisd.conf go my virus-scann f-prot. A "rcamavis start" gives me: Starting virus-scanning for sendmail (amavis): starting amavis-milter failed starting amavisd done and in /var/log/messages Jan 14 16:04:02 imladris amavis-milter: amavis-milter: Unable to bind to port local:/var/run/amavis/amavis-milter.sock: No such file or direct ory Jan 14 16:04:02 imladris amavis-milter: amavis-milter: Unable to create listening socket on conn local:/var/run/amavis/amavis-milter.sock I must say that I have no clue what to do or where to look anymore (googling didn't take me further...). On my old system with SuSE7.3 I just installed the rpm of amavis-sendmail (non-daemon version) which nearly ran out of the box. Now I upgraded some memory in my server and I wanted to switch to amavisd (I also tried also the amavis-sendmail of 8.1, but somehow it didn't scan my mail). I also know that I should some more things about m4, sendmail and so on, but for time-saving I wanted to use the prepared RPM. Heeeelp! ;-) Please! -- Eat, sleep and go running, David Huecking. Hi, thank you for reply, effectivly i mean frontend from terminal and without X. I know well firewall builder and it s a really good program. My problem is as follow: I have an radio server wich i can access throw eth0 via internet. This server is used for ham radio applications, and in france we are allowed to do some experiments.. I would like to be able to manage my firewall on the server using just my ssh connection.. in order to restrict the hi speed radio connection on eth1. allong the days i will have to change the rules in order to accept access from differents clients.. It's why i'm looking an terminal frontend rule generator... I'm not sure if you mean text-mode only frontends with the word "terminal". You could check www.fwbuilder.org, there is a (IMHO) good frontend which allows easy management of your rules on a system with X installed. Your firewall doesn't need X, just copy the script which is created by fwbuilder there. The tool even has a wizard to help you create the rules. Andreas
