Hi, I have a geustion. i use suse linux 8.0 whit apache 1.3.23 but on the apache site i see 1.3.26 and it will fix some security bugs.... Is suse fixing those secrity problems in they`re rpm`s or is it better to compile a new apache version? I have this qeustion whit some more packeges.... Groeten Wouter

Whoa, hold yer horses! That's a pretty complicated setup you're describing with very few words.. I'd hardly expect your exact situation to be described in any place, but you should be able to piece everything together. After all, that's how UNIX works. Try to rephrase your question, being as clear as possible (this includes message formatting). Note, too, that your question isn't really related to security a lot.. Cheers Tobias

password encryption on suse 7.3?

Hi! I use a standard SuSE 7.3, so passwords are stored in shadow. I wonder if they are encrypted with des or md5? The reason for my question is that I want to migrate the accounts to ldap, and to use the unix passwords in the ldap tree for mac os x clients. Os x doesn't support md5, so I have to make sure that we use des for user accounts. I even don't know where the encryption is configured, or is it defined at compile time in the shadow utilities? Hi @ll, have a lame question : Is this Hardware enough for about 100 Users ( guessing less than 100 ) : CPU => Intel PII 650 MHz RAM => 512 MB HDDs => IDE 13GB Regards / Gruß Bruno

LDAP authentication

Hi all, I use Yast2 to enable LDAP authentication in one machine. I see my PAM configurations files and there is no pam_ldap.so "directive". Only /etc/nsswitch and /etc/openldap/ldap.conf files changed. I want to know what files Yast2 modified to enable LDAP authentication. Has anyone run gated, with rules for RIP, to allow ipsec through to an internal mail server, that has a default gateway that does not come back through the SuSE server? I am stumped and cannot see any info. for it in SuSE 8 distro. Thanks. Richard King
