Update mount - Probleme mit Rechten von vfat-Partition

Hallo! Nach dem Einspielen des Patches util-linux-9919 habe ich Probleme mit dem Mounten von vfat-Partitionen. Dieser Patch beseitigt tatsächlich eine Sicherheitslücke von mount: | Sicherheitsupdate für mount und umount. Beide Programme haben ihre umask | nicht gesetzt und so konnten lokale Angreifer in die mtab Datei | beliebige Daten schreiben, da diese mit den falschen Berechtigungen | angelegt wurde. Die umask ist jetzt anscheinend 033 (wenn ich sie mit dem Parameter umask in der fstab nicht anders setze). Das dumme ist: Auch alle Verzeichnisse bekommen diese Umask, verbieten also nichtpriviligierten Nutzern den Lesezugriff auf die Dateien darin. Wenn ich die Umask nun auf 022 (oder 023) setze, um allen Nutzern (bzw. bestimmten Nutzern) das Lesen der Dateien zu ermöglichen, dann bekommen alle Dateien das x-Bit gesetzt, was ich eigentlich eher vermeiden wollte. Kann man daran etwas ändern? Die Optionen noexec und ro in der fstab haben jetzt bei vfat anscheinend überhaupt keine Wirkung mehr (früher einmal konnte man mit noexec gewöhnlichen Dateien das x-Bit nehmen, während Verzeichnisse es behielten). Postfix deferred mail

Hi list Due to a failure in a firewall script, postfix was unable to reach external mail relays. Now the firewall hole to send mail is open again. But how to flush all the mails in /var/spool/postfix/deferred now with one simple command ? Thx in advance Michael

WebWasher, protection of minors

Hi, due to a privat engagement (Internet-Cafe), i'll try to setup WebWasher (http://www.webwasher.com/squid-icap/) and Apache/Squid. Everythink work OK, but now i have some Problems with User-Authentication. I failed within this: - they dont have (yet) any User-Databases (LDAP nor Unix/PAM, or similar) - i would like to use Unix/PAM (and Webmin for later User-Management) Following specifications should be solved now: 1) Squid as Auth-Proxy 2) WebWasher behind Squid using ICAP-Extentions 3) two user-groups: 1x over-18, 1x under-18 (1) is solved but the Proxy-Passwords must be crypted(), instead of MD5 or plaintext (so i cant use /etc/shadow yet) 2+3 also works as a "standalone" solution => But i cant cascade (1) before (2)+(3) Is anyone around, using a similar setup ? I would like to discuss any related thinks (please not here, this could be off-topic here). So please answer via privat mail. Hopefully i get some responses... Hi folks I followed the threads about configuring the firewall, but it was not really enlightning me (sorry). So some questions: 1.) Does the FW_SERVICE_DMZ open only a connection form DEV_EXT to DEV_DMZ ? Because when i want to access the DMZ from internal i have to use the FW_FORWARD statement. 2.) A question to the notation # A forwarding rule consists of 1) source IP/net and 2) destination IP # seperated by a comma. e.g. "1.1.1.1,2.2.2.2 3.3.3.3/16,4.4.4.4/24" # Optional is a protocol, seperated by a comma, e.g. "5.5.5.5,6.6.6.6,igmp" # Optional is a port after the protocol with a comma, e.g. "0/0,0/0,udp,514" When i leave away protocol and port what is (or should)open then? Hi Dani I think that you forget that the normal user authentication is still there. like on any ([l]Unix) machine. nfs and authentification

Dear List, we use nfs to export a file-system of a file-server. But there is no authentification of the importing computer, so everyone in our subnet could give themself a valid IP and has acess to all files. I know, there is snfs (nfs via ssh-tunnel), but as far as I know not in SuSE? My question: Is there any version of nfs or a comparable service with a secure authentification in the SuSE-packet? The public part of this key must be installed by the gpg program in the directory ~/.gnupg/ under the user's home directory who performs the signature verification (usually root). You can import the key that is used by SuSE in rpm packages for SuSE Linux by saving this announcement to a file ("announcement.txt") and running the command (do "su -" to be root): gpg --batch; gpg < announcement.txt | gpg --import SuSE Linux distributions version 7.1 and thereafter install the key "build(a)suse.de" upon installation or upgrade, provided that the package gpg is installed. A connection between a Client external MS(modem or lan calling the server vpn). I do not know which parameters I must use in the configuration of pptpd.conf, I am really necessary that I configure ppp, so that the Vpn server functions. Hi Patrick we are all stupid sometimes : But if you fail to get SuSEfirewall2 working, i wonder if you are rellay helped by introducing a strange script. Why do you not send the settings you propose to use and there will be enough people ready here to guide you ? Hi Dani I think that you forget that the normal user authentication is still there. like on any ([l]Unix) machine. GRUB: passing command line parameters

Hi list! I just installed SuSE 8.1 with the new grub boot loader. With lilo I could block passing command line parameters with the "password" option. After setting this option in lilo.conf, lilo would ask for the saved pasword to accept any parameters appended to the kernel. But grub won't do this: There is a password parameter which will block from editing entries, this will then ask you for a password when trying to switch to the "edit mode" or to the grub command line. There is also a lock parameter which will ask you for the saved password to boot a locked menu entry. But I don't find a possibility to ask the user for a password before appending parameters to a menu entry! So every user can login with root control appending init=/bin/bash !!! This happens only in grub's graphic mode. In text only mode you can't append anything to the menu entries. A security bug in grub? Richard -- Richard Ems ... e-mail: r.ems(a)gmx.net ... I want: - ROOT, SuSE - 100MBit, Inkl. 50GB Traffic - 40GB HD, > 800MHz, 256MB RAM - 24h Online Reset :-) - MAX 50/Month Can you recomment a provider? I hard that 1und1 boxes are quite slow. Hallo, I´m using Squid Proxy + Squidguard Filter + smb_auth Module. I want to check all the incomming traffic (Content Check) with an Antivirus Tool. Has anybody an idea what Virusscanner do I need? hi everybody, i spend some 3 days and 1 night trying to configure SuSEfirewall2 . hw: 2 servers p3/600, 256 mb, 20 GB, 2 nic 3com 90x . sw:suse8.0, standardkernel 2.4.18SuSe-4GB.
