Dear Listmembers: in the documentation at http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram#How_to_use_it.3F I found a new parameter "-v" which is not operable in the 0.50-5 version of my openSuse 10.2. And there seems to exist no newer version at sourceforge. I don't know whether this -v parameter will help with my Toshiba satellite L100, but I would like to give it a try. Suspending to ram at runlevel 3 (or 1) shouts down my machine at not time, however it never (20 to 30 attempts with the most meaningful options and combinations) resumes but instead starts and restarts in cycles of about 7 sec; no trace in the logs, no video and also no working caps lock (which is a sign for a bios issue, as I learned from the documentation). Does anybody know where I can get a version of s2ram with a operable -v parameter? Of course, I greatly would appreciate any other advice, help, hint or suggestion as to why this Toshiba Satellite L100 doesn't resume. fixing virtual resolution only for external vga?

Hi list, I am trying to get a projector working on a dell D 820. This machine has a 1680x1050 resolution on its display. When I configure it with SaX2, to show a 1024x768 or 1280x1024 resolution on the external port, I get a 1024x1024 resolution out of it. Then I tried to switch through the resolutions via Ctrl+Alt+Plus. When I am at 1024x768, then the external VGA resolution switchted to that resolution too, but the virtual resolution was still larger. Then I tried to fix the virtual Resolution via a Virtual 1024 788 line in the Display SubSections of the xorg.conf file. This made the external port working, but this also fixed the resolution on the display to 1024x768 too. I think I need to fix the virtual resolution of the external display somehow, without affecting the resolution of the LCD. /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state falsch

Hallo Leute, nachdem ich bei meinem Laptop den Bildschirm einmal geschlossen habe und wieder geöffnet habe, bleibt der Wert in /proc/acpi/button/lid/LID/state dauerhaft auf "closed". Nach frischem Reboot dagegen ist der Wert korrekterweise auf "opened" eingestellt. Weiß jemand vielleicht etwas darüber? Ist es vielleicht eine Fehlkonfiguration oder eher ein Kernelbug? Unter SUSE 9.3 (mit gleichem Laptop) ging das problemlos. Da hatte ich damit nie Probleme. Meine jetzige Konfiguration: * openSUSE 10.2 * Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1425 In Suse-bezogenen Mailarchiven, Foren und im Novell-Bugzilla finde ich bislang nichts darüber. Hallo Bei meinem Travelmate 3000 sind leider die Spulen in der Spannungsversorgung defekt. Die Beschriftung ist leider auch nicht mehr zu lesen. Hat von euch zufällig jemand Bilder von der Hauptplatine oder weiß, wie ich herausfinden kann, welche Ersatzspulen ich brauche? Ist zwar leicht OT, aber ich weiß sonst nicht mehr, wo ich nachfragen soll. e-Sata PCMCIA / Cardbus Controller (Suse9.3-Kernel 2.6.11.4-21.15-default)

Hallo Mailinglistengemeinde, leider versuche ich schon den ganzen Morgen Informationen zu PCMCIA/Cardbus e-Sata Controllern zu finden. Google Spuckt bei mir nichts aus, oder ich gebe nicht die richtigen Suchwörter ein :-( Aber evtl kann mir ja hier jemand helfen: Also ich möchte mir gern eine e-SATA PCMCIA/Cardbus Controllerkarte kaufen um externe Festplatten daran zu betreiben. Jetzt habe ich noch keine Informationen gefunden, welche KArten da unterstützt werden. Kann Suse damit einfach ganz transparent umgehen, bzw. was muß ich tun, damit ich es ans Laufen bekomme? Welche Controller werden (am besten ohne weitere Treiber...u.ä.) unterstützt Wenn mir jemand helfen könnte, wär das super! Vielen Dank im Voraus! Problems with hibernate / suspend to ram / openSuSE 10.2

Dear listmembers, my new laptop causes me a specific issue with kmix. Using kde, the kmix process keeps a hand on the sound module so it cannot be unloaded. Therefore hibernate / suspend initially did not work. I finalized the process kmix now by adding the appropriate script in /etc/pm, however, the question arises now how to ensure that the kmix process is restarted in the users context at restart? lenovo X60 / FN-F7

Dear listmembers, after hours of googling I found two points: 1.) most people saying FN-F7 does not work on this laptop, 2.) one person reporting that it works on Gentoo with X11-patches from the middle of the last year. Now: does anyone at SuSE know about this? Is there any means to debug what happens here? xev does not yield usable results. Any inputs / suggestions are highly appreciated.
