Help Need with Dell Inspiron E1705 and wireless set-up

Hello All: I just purchased a Dell Inspiron E1705 with a wireless minicard that has a Broadcomm 4311 chip. I am new to opensuse and seem unable to get wireless going. So far I have found no advice that works. Can someone help me out. Thanks a million. -- Yours, Ralph. Hi, I recently bought a new laptop. It's a HP Pavillion dv6230ea. And what's pretty rare for a laptop, EVERY little bit of its hardware works on openSUSE 10.2 (boxed). Well, everything except the built-in modem and the expresscard slot, which might work but I don't know yet. Haven't tested the modem because I don't care about it, and I can't test the expresscard slot because I dont have an expresscard. So, if anyone here's been looking for a good linux laptop, that one's quite an option. Sells for around 850€ here in .de, and does really good performance, even in games. problem with opensuse 10.2 and openBSD packet filter

Hello List, I just purchased a brand new laptop with opensuse 10.2. When I hook it up to our university network (within our department) the dhcp server provides me with an IP address but I cannot access the internet via our firewall which is running openBSD packet filter. If I turn the firewall off, then I immediately can get out. I have been using Suse since Suse 8.1 and have never had any problem with the packet filter firewall before. In fact, now I have two machines running Suse 10.1 and they peform fine. I can ping outside machines, but I cannot connect any website regardless of the web browser I use. ifconfig looks absolutely fine--it has to be an opensuse 10.2 --packet filter problem because as soon as the packet filter is disable I'm able to do anything I want. Again, I have never had this problem with any other Suse release. I have seen some reports of this reference on the net, but does anybody know how I can fix this problem? Dear listmembers, if anyone of you is using a lenovo X60 laptop and would like to: - make FN-F7 switch video output (internal / external / both) - make FN-F2 lock the keyboard (X11 / kde) - use the fingerprint - reader for logging in - use the internal modem I can provide support. If I find the time I will post an article in the linux-laptop wiki. Centrino-Notebook und Bluetooth

Hallo hier, ich besitze ein Benq Joybook 5100N mit Centrino-Chipset. Wie kann ich hier mit opensuse 10.2 Bluetooth zum Leben erwecken? Mit in Yast2 einfach aktivieren tut sich gar nix. Es scheint, als ob die Bluetooth-Schnittstelle einfach nicht erkannt wird. Hat da jmand einen Rat? Ach ja, wenn ihr schon so nett wart bis hierher zu lesen, weiß jemand, wie ich wie ich den ebenfalls eingebauten SD-Slot nutzen kann. Eigentlich soll es ja mit dem mitgelieferten Kernel gehen?
