fixing virtual resolution only for external vga?
Hi list, I am trying to get a projector working on a dell D 820. This machine has a 1680x1050 resolution on its display. When I configure it with SaX2, to show a 1024x768 or 1280x1024 resolution on the external port, I get a 1024x1024 resolution out of it. Then I tried to switch through the resolutions via Ctrl+Alt+Plus. When I am at 1024x768, then the external VGA resolution switchted to that resolution too, but the virtual resolution was still larger. Then I tried to fix the virtual Resolution via a Virtual 1024 788 line in the Display SubSections of the xorg.conf file. This made the external port working, but this also fixed the resolution on the display to 1024x768 too. I think I need to fix the virtual resolution of the external display somehow, without affecting the resolution of the LCD. all, has anyone managed to get the vx mouse to work with opensuse 10.2? I have studied http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=277388 installed ial and xorg-x11-driver-input-7.2-19 and udev created /etc/udev/rules.d/19-local.rules (as described) with the line KERNEL=="event[0-9]*", SYSFS{../name}=="Logitech USB Receiver", SYSFS{../phys}=="usb-0000:00:1d.1-1/input0", NAME="input/event9" in it and added Section "InputDevice" Identifier "VX Rev" Driver "evdev" Option "Device" "/dev/input/event9" Option "Protocol" "auto" Option "CorePointer" EndSection to xorg.conf and the line InputDevice "VX Rev" to Serverlayout I can find the two buttons and the button behind the scrollwheel (key event), but the slider and clicking the scrollwheel left or right don't work. any hints welcome, martin

If you use the resolution desktop applet of kde or the kde control center to switch to a lower (predefined) resolution, the virtual desktop is resized to the new physical resolution...
