Asus R2Hv special keys

Hi, I have just joined the list as I am trying to get my Asus UMPC running with openSUSE. I have installed openSUSE 11 on an Asus R2Hv UMPC without too many problems. This unit specs are: - 900MHz CPU - 1.3GB ram - Toshiba 4200rpm 80GB hdd - Intel 915GM graphics - PANJIT touchscreen (evtouch working) - Syntek camera - ZD1211RW wireless - bluetooth - Authentec Fingerprint Reader While I have a couple questions that I hope the list can help with, I'll start with one of the more obvious. I have gotten all the standard hardware working, with a little bit of tweaking along the way. The fingerprint reader seems to work, but I need to spend a lot more time configuring and playing to get it to work seamlessly. I haven't tried the GPS as yet. What I cannot get to work are the extra buttons on the case. The unit does not have a keyboard, but does have a number of extra buttons on the case. It has a button for login (sends <CTRL><ALT><DEL> but is interpreted as <C><A><.>) that I can assign to start nautilus for example, using Keyboard Shortcuts under GNOME. But I cannot assign it to an application. I would like to get xvkbd to load when pushed, but GNOME doesn't want to let me do this under gconf. The other buttons don't register at all under xev. Under Windows these buttons do the following tasks: wireless - toggle between no wireless, wireless only, bluetooth only, wireless and bluetooth [:=] - application switcher. On Vista it just puts the start menu on the screen. [:::} - change hardware settings - set screen resolution, adjust powewr scheme, display brightness, volume. Any ideas on how I can investigate to get these keys working? Thanks for any ideas. Hallo Gruppe, eigentlich habe ich keine Probleme, sondern möchte nur mal ausdrücklich die neue Version 11 loben. Bisher hatte ich auf meinem Sony Vaio Notebook VGN-FZ18E eine Suse 10.3 laufen. Das hat mich viele Wochen gekostet und viel Erfahrung im Kernel compilieren und Script-Anpassung gebracht :( Nun stand ich vor der Entscheidung, ob ich auf 11.0 updaten sollte. Die Neugier hat gesiegt. Also Image von der Platte gemacht und ein Update durchgeführt. Mit dem default-kernel läuft auf einmal fast alles. - suspend 2 ram und suspend 2 disk hatte nie funktioniert Nur den wlan Treiber musste ich noch vor dem Suspend explizit entladen. - Emerald wollte nicht starten, aber USE_EMERALD=yes in der compiz Konfiguration hat das behoben - Function Key und Sound Konfiguration hat das Update überlebt. - Für die integrierte Webcam musste ich nur den Treiber neu übersetzen. Das Einzige, was immer noch nicht geht ist das Backlight zu dimmen. Endlich hat das ständige Kernel compilieren ein Ende und man kann die Updatefunktion von Suse benutzen. Was mach ich nur mit der vielen freien Zeit? Vielleicht sollte ich mal mit meinen Kindern spielen. Benq S 72 openSUSE 11.0 Box DVD Installation OK danach Anmeldung nicht moeglich Hallo Liste, wie oben beschrieben kann ich mich nicht anmelden. Das Notebook friert ein oder bootet bis zum naechsten Absturz in einer Endlosschleife immer wieder neu. Die boot.msg bzw. boot.omsg bieten keine brauchbaren Anhaltspunkte, ausser das in die entsprechende boot.msg unterschiedlich Lange geschrieben werden kann. Auf dem Notebook laeuft 10.3 problemlos mit dem Bootparameter irqpoll fuer die Netzwerkkarten. Auch der Start mit "Sicheren Einstellungen" scheitert. Welche Möglichkeiten bleiben um openSUSE 11.0 doch noch nutzen zu können? SuSE 11.0 gnome und bluetooth-maus

Hallo, unter SuSE 10.3 hatte ich mit meiner BT-Maus keine Probleme. Leider schaffe ich es unter SuSE 11.0 nicht die BT-Maus in einen funktionsfähigen Zustand zu versetzen. Unter Gnome habe ich im System-Tray eine BT-Symbol. Hier klicke ich auf "browse device" und bekomme die BT-Maus angezeigt. "MS Bluetooth Notebookmouse 5000" wird hier angezeigt. Wenn ich nun auf "verbinden" drücke dauert es eine Weile und dann wird folgende Message ausgegeben: »obex://[00:12:5A:6A:AD:88]/« konnte nicht angezeigt werden. Fehler: Host down Bitte wählen Sie einen anderen Betrachter und versuchen Sie es erneut. in /var/log/message ist zu finden: Jul 8 00:22:33 IBMT61 hcid[1574]: connect(): Host is down (112) Ich hoffe es kann mir jemand von Euch weiterhelfen, da ich diese Maus unbedingt benötige. Mein Handy Nokia 6300 kann ich dagegen hervorragend mit BT koppeln. Daher sollte der Treiber und der BT-Adapter nicht das Problem darstellen - oder? Ich verstehe auch nicht warum hier ein OBEX Protokoll verwendet wird - oder wird das immer für BT-Maus Verbindungen verwendet? openSUSE 11.0 + Installation kann nicht fertig gestellt werden

Hallo Leute, Hab mir unlängst die neueste version gezogen und auf dvd gebrannt. Das Problem ist nun, kann zwar von dvd starten und die Installation anfangen, jedoch hängt sie sich dann auf und meldet 'Integritätsprüfung fehlerhaft' bei einigen Paketen und bricht danach die Installation ab. It is not possible to konfigure Alsa with yast2 "maestro-3i PCI Audio Accelerator".

Hello List, My machine: Dell Inspiron 8000, opensuse10.3, "ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI Audio Accelerator". It´s neither possible to persuade alsa with alsaconf nor yast2 to work. Under yast2 appear´s the following error message: -- Error during the installation ES1983S Maestro-3i PCI Audio Accelerator The kernelmodule snd-maestro3 for the sound support could not be loaded. A possible reason for that are wrong module parameter, as well as invalid IO or IRQ parameter. -- In case that more information are needed to solve the problem I ask you to explain me what you need and how to obtain it under open-suse-10.3, thank you. [10.3] Wlan erst nach "rcnetwork restart"

Hallo Liste, opensuse10.3, Amilo L1310G, MSI CB65SE ... Die Karte habe ich kürzlich angeschafft (vorher war eine Dlink DWL-650+ im Schacht). Karte ließ sich problemlos konfigurieren und tut auch. Allerdings erst nachdem ich ein "rcnetwork restart" mache. sonst wird keine Verbindung hergestellt. Googeln hat mich nicht wirklich weiter gebracht, keiner der Hinweise scheint wirklich zu passen (weil ja die DWL vorher anstandslos verbunden hat). Das Einzige, was mir aufgefallen ist ... die Karte signalisiert eine korrekte Funktion bis zu dem Punkt an dem in den Runlevel 5 gesprungen wird. Laut yast wird "network" korrekt in den Leveln 2, 3, und 5 gestartet. Hat irgendwer eine Idee an welcher Schraube ich noch drehen müßte? -- Talk to you later ... nvidia (proprietary) et s2disk

Hello, I recently updated the precompiled nvidia drivers which can be found for opensuse 10.2 on download.nvidia.com, and since then resuming from s2disk won't wake up anymore the Xserver. The display stays blank, but the backlight is on, at Strg-Alt-F1 gets me to a console where I can restart the Xserver. Further research showed that the command "vbetool vbestate save" will also wake up the Xserver, whilst "vbetool vbestate post | restore" does nothing (useful). further information: opensuse 10.2 X86-64 kernel 2.6.18.8-0.10-default driver: x11-video-nvidiaG01-173.14.09-0.1 nvidia-gfxG01-kmp-default-173.14.09_2.6.18.8_0.10-0.1 the hardware: nVidia GeForce 6150 LE the working driver was x11-video-nvidiaG01-169.xxx Any ideas?
