Hi all, I am looking for a couple of Alpha testers for Xarpm. Xarpm is a ham radio personal mailbox program which looks like Outlook when running. Any interested parties, please contact me direct for further information. Current screenshots can be found at:- http://www.g6vey.demon.co.uk/public/xarpm_pics I have two alpha testers currently using Xarpm and im wanting a couple more. Note. Xarpm has no AX25 support at present. Hallo! Ich arbeite an der Weiterentwicklung eines Amateurfunk-Programms (hf von Tom Sailer), das Pactor mit Soundkarte senden kann. Das Programm wurde für OSS-Treiber geschrieben. Installing Kpsk Under SuSE (ver 8.2)

Hello Fellow Listers... Forgive me for doing this to death again ... but I tried to install the sources of Kpsk and here's what happened. I was using the file identified below:- kpsk-1.0rc1-0.i386.rpm I attempted to install Kpsk (an amateur radio program) today and after parsing the file the install notified me of a large number of missing files. Their names are listed below: 1. libcrypto.so.2 2. libDCOP-gcc2.96.so.4 3. libkdecore-gcc2.96.so.4 4. libkdefx-gcc2.96.so.4 5. libkdesu-gcc2.96.so.4 6. libkdeui-gcc2.96.so.4 7. libkio-gcc2.96.so.4 9. libssi.so.2 No problem ... I will just look at my database of programs to be installed ... and do the necessary. But I can find no reference to these programs!! Can you please tell me where I can find these programs? From what you have both said, that seems to be the problem. I'll have to get a cheap PCI 128 card, which I suppose must be Sound blaster compatible. I don't do any hi-fi stuff on the computer, so it doesn't need to be a very expensive one. Many thanks for the advice and information. I really do appreciate it. 73 Keith G4JVX

SuSE 8.2 and PSK31 (continued)

Hello from Canberra I have 8.2 installed on a 366 Celeron machine with 128 Meg of RAM. I am able to install the rpm for gpsk31 ... but have never yet managed to decode a signal. I read that gpsk has now been replaced by more up-to-date programs like kpsk ... but I wonder if anyone could assist with the location of binaries for kpsk which will run under SuSE 8.2? I have seen binaries for R*d H*t ... but these may not be suitable for SuSE due to the differences in locations of libraries, etc. If you can help, please respond to me off list. Suse 8 , AX25 and Baycom

Hi, Seems not much activity on this thread? I have Suse 8 installed (Text mode) on a Pentium 200 with 32 Mb RAM. I want to get AX25 to work with a serial baycom modem for packet radio. My callsign is ZS6BNE in South Africa. When installing AX25 using YAST2 the software is installed , but where do I go from here? Is it nescessary to recompile the kernal as many of the "How to's" state? Any guidelines for the Baycom would be most welcome. I have installed LinPac which complains that the AX25 ports have not been set up. Looking forward to any comments and suggestions. (Please don't ask me to use the How to , I've been down that road and it is too complex. :o) ) I'm looking for a practical , working solution. Hello All, Has anyone used cheapbytes and what is a "workalike"? For example they advertise a Workalike for Red Hat 8.0, is this red hat 8.0 with just the names in the ad changed for legal reasons or is this a distro with an 8.0 colection of goodies.
