There are quite a lot of typos and grammar errors or just wrong translations. I maintain the translation of KNetworkmanager branch in the KDE svn, so I merged this older translation to the SUSE template and proof read the remaining strings of SUSE's translation. My new translation should be at least better than the current one. Some problems or awkward translations I noted in many recent SUSE translations: 1. The use of the first person for almost every phrase - present participle, infinitive constructions and commands ("Benutze", "Lade" "Kopiere" etc.) Some sound bad, others are just wrong. The german translation guidelines of KDE, Gnome and Ubuntu definitvly say that first person constructions should never be used in translations. 2. At least KDE uses a space between a word and "..." (xyz wird geladen ...) because it is - although uncommon - the only correct version. I think we should use this correct version for all SUSE translations, but at least for the KDE related ones to avoid a mix of the two styles. If we take a look at the major projects, I see only Mozilla using Update for Updates, the other projects all translate it with something like "Aktualisieren".[1] Of course we could left it in English, but that's not what we're trying to do, our aim is to translate as much as possible, left as much untranslated as necessary. And I think update is translateable. However, if this seems problematic for you (and I can see why), I'd propose to change the original string to something like "Start update", which in Fact would clarify this situation. Can someone tell where exactly this line can be found? Danke Stephan, dass Du meine Mail auf den korrekten Weg geleitet hast. Noch ein Nachtrag: Was mir insbesondere hier [1] beim Fingerprint Reader auffällt ist die schlicht falsche Schreibweise von zusammengesetzten Worten: Fingerabdruckleser Einstellung --> Das muss ein Wort sein! Zur Not mit Bindestrich, aber besser "Fingerabdrucklesereinstellung" oder noch viel besser "Einstellungen des Fingerabdrucklesers" Fingerabdruck Dateien --> s.o. Fingerabdruck Dateien --> s.o. Fingerabdruckleser Konfiguration --> s.o. PAM Einstellungen --> s.o. Fremdwörter und Abkürzungen werden durch Bindestriche angebunden. Das ist in besagter Datei aber teilweise auch mal richtig. KDE Programm --> KDE-Programm Ähnlich auch in YAST unter Installationsquellen im Installer: "Repositorium Verwalter..." --> "Repository-Verwaltung ...", da stört mich nebenbei noch das fehlende Leerzeichen und der "Verwalter" ;-) Ansonsten habe ich gesehen, dass einige Punkte, die ich in der ersten Mail angesprochen habe - insbesondere wegen der Softwarequellen und zypper, bereits auf der Liste behandelt und bezüglich zypper auch teilweise gefixt wurden.
