Summary: snes9x: no sound, no fullscreen -> replace it with
zsnes?
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: sven.burmeister(a)gmx.net
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
I installed snes9x and do not get any sound, since it tries to use /dev/dsp.
There is no config I found to change the sound-device.
zsnes supports sound without any problems or modifications.
in the readme for snes9x I read that if I wanted fullscreen-mode I had to start
it as root. While I do not think that running this as root is an option, I
tried and it failed.
zsnes has no trouble to display the games at 1280x1024 fullscreen, without
running as root.
It is not up to me whether it is wort putting some effort into snes9x in order
to fix the above issues, or whether it might be more sensible to replace the
package by zsnes for 10.2.
I even found a repo for it at:

For getting the card reader working, I do need to call
modprobe mmc_block
setpci -s 02:04.3 4c=0x22
manually. Afterwards it works nice :)

Any Singular or Multiple Email that is dragged out of the evolution Windows
Will cause the Evolution Application to fall over with "restart and inform
developers" - The question is why would you want to do this.
- Some emails depending on content or nature are desirable to be shredded.
Whilst it is possible to drag a file into the shredder it is NOT possible for
an email to be shredded and Evolution Fails and an application restart is
required.
The situation was that I received an email that contained a virus and whilst it
caused NO harm to Linux I thought it prudent to shred. - I was unable to do so.
P.S it is also impossible to shred a directory from Konqueror only a file and
will open another KDE bug if it has not been done already.
Thank you
Scott

Summary: Enhancement to Power Management Feature in YAST

In YAST>SYSTEM>Power Management
Add to 'Other Settings" > "Suspend Permissions"
Suspend to disk after ?? minutes
Suspend to RAM after ?? Minutes
Standby Mode After ?? Minutes
Need to validate 'suspend to Disk after ?? is greater than Period Suspend to
RAM
Need to Validate 'Standby Mode After ?? is greater than either Suspend to Disk
or RAM.
Add Hotkey to activate Standby - suggest offer SHIFT + F? where user indicates
which function key activates Standby Mode.
Theory is that 101 Enhanced Keyboard has standard calls for SHIFT + F? keys and
allows for other applications to come along and reserve SHIFT +F? key for other
purpose.
Utilise keyboard call already allocated 'Sleep' key on Microsoft Keyboard - to
be the same as the elected standby mode allocated by the user and utilised by
system - will make it tidy.
Your thoughts????

I "allways" had a SATA disk with SUSE 10.1 installed, and now added and IDE
drive, where I installed openSUSE 10.2.
Since after having installed openSUSE 10.2 I still was presented with the same
old SUSE 10.1 installed grub, I decided to try to repair the bootloader.
I booted from CD1 of openSUSE 10.2, and proceeded to "Repair Installed System".
However, even selecting "Propose New Configuraton", it only appeared openSUSE
10.2 to be added to the GRUB, no line for SUSE 10.1. Since I am not a grub
expert, it was clear that I couldn't fix it easily.
I then decided to boot openSUE 10.2, open YAST and slecet "Install Bootloader".
I was suprised, because selecting "Propose New Configuration" this time gave me
a list including openSUSE 10.2 and SUSE 10.1.
Concluding, the "Repair Bootloader" started from the installation CD should be
able to behave as the "Install Bootloader" started from the installation,
proposing me a real fix for the GRUB.
(I will add both YAST logs)

Take a look at the "Installation source". It a classic example of simple list.
Can I select them all to delete? No.
Can I select few of them to get refreshed? No.
Is there any reason the data shouldn't be edited on fly? No.
Please, do not make _basic_, _classic_ things so complicated. Shift+LMB is not
a rocket science nowadays.
"Edit" button? What for? Make the entry editable, that's all.
Etc. etc. I hope my intentions are clear (and this applies to other components
too).

I have recently purchased a Dell Inspiron E1405 with an Intel Core 2 Duo
chipset and Im running openSuse 10.1 on it. My problem is that anytime I plug
in the power cord or unplug the cord, the laptop freezes and I have to turn it
off and reboot. I have tried running Gentoo on it and it gives the same
problem, however the problem does not exist in either distribution under the
2.6.18 vanilla kernel sources.
