[Bug 206644] New: Evolution Falls over and requires restart when draging an item into shreader
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206644 Summary: Evolution Falls over and requires restart when draging an item into shreader Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Evolution AssignedTo: kharish@novell.com ReportedBy: alpha096@tpg.com.au QAContact: anagappan@novell.com Any Singular or Multiple Email that is dragged out of the evolution Windows Will cause the Evolution Application to fall over with "restart and inform developers" - The question is why would you want to do this. - Some emails depending on content or nature are desirable to be shredded. Whilst it is possible to drag a file into the shredder it is NOT possible for an email to be shredded and Evolution Fails and an application restart is required. The situation was that I received an email that contained a virus and whilst it caused NO harm to Linux I thought it prudent to shred. - I was unable to do so. P.S it is also impossible to shred a directory from Konqueror only a file and will open another KDE bug if it has not been done already. Thank you Scott -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206644 ------- Comment #12 from jonharson@gmail.com 2007-05-26 21:05 MST ------- Just tested on evolution 2.8.2 from 10.2 try this, from KDE. drag an email to desktop, it work and you get text on desktop. Now try this with a folder... HD started to grind, i left if running about 10 minute on a small 160 mail folder and nothing ever come out of it but a frozen evolution. Box is a dual core AMD 4600+ (2.4Ghz), so if it was really computing something it was doing it really badly. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=206644 ------- Comment #13 from alpha096@tpg.com.au 2007-05-27 20:32 MST ------- Evolution - correct me if I am wrong - has its own GUI properties that are not always in keeping with Kwin environment. Because traditionally most user will accept default desktop so combination of evolution and Kwin is an unusual. There have been other graphical issues related to Evolution and Kwin with 10.2. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231051. Effectively we are discussing here Evolutions compliance with Kwin OLE (equivalent) and as such should be tested further to death even dragging an evolution to an application. Suggest we start with open office calc in both a Kwin and Gnome desktop which treats OLE in vastly different roles due to desktop selection.Evolutions interoperability between desktops is rarely tested and I am concerned if Evolution as a application is basically tolerated by KDE, any changes with Kwin could prove unstable without QA default testing of every release of open suse with Evolution and KDE Desktop in future releases. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
