Summary: knetworkmanager doesn't accept hex keys with colons as
separators
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Network
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: dawid(a)klej.net
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
It would be nice if knetworkmanager accepted hex keys with colons used as
separators, i.e. AB:CD:EF. It could also accept pauses, i.e. AB-CD-EF. This is
an enhacement request rather than a bug.

Summary: libopensync-plugin-opie is not installable
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Alpha 4 plus
Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Other
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: andreas.hanke(a)gmx-topmail.de
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
Unsatisfied dependency: libopensync-plugin-opie-0.18_SVN815-4@i586 requires
libopensync = 0.18_SVN815
This looks like a packaging bug and not like a temporary version mismatch
because I have been observing this for a few weeks and all libopensync packages
have been rebuilt recently.
The bug is in libopensync-plugin-opie.spec:
Requires: libopensync = %{version}
This isn't going to work because the versioning scheme of
libopensync-plugin-opie is different than that of libopensync!
libopensync-plugin-opie has the version number:
0.18_SVN815
libopensync and all other libopensync-* packages have the version number:
0.18+svn1233
If you meant that libopensync-plugin-opie should require the same libopensync
version it has been built with, use something like:
Requires: libopensync = %(echo `rpm -q --queryformat='%{VERSION}' libopensync`)

I try to download and install something but, for example error occurs saying
that this server changed its ID of rpm (or something like that).
Now, I have to abort whole installation, quit, run it again (so the source list
will be refreshed), select all the packages I selected before AGAIN and run
installation.
If ID is changed, please offer the user refresh of the source list ON FLY,
offer immediate return to the yast (without forcing the user to rerun the app),
so the installation would be much more smooth.

back to the first one once all are shown.

Summary: Suddenly unable to login via SSH using Windows Domain
logid that worked earlier
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Minor
Priority: P5 - None
Component: YaST2
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: jack.hamilton(a)uboc.com
QAContact: jsrain(a)novell.com
PROBLEM: YaST2 > Network Services > Windows Domain Membership; affecting
Windows domain logins if ABORTING/CANCELING instead of clicking FINISH even
when no changes made to working configuration.
SYMPTOM: Suddenly unable to login via SSH using Windows Domain logid (i.e.,
mydomain\jdoe) that worked earlier. /var/log/messages shows the following
errors when a domain user tries to login:
Sep 13 13:55:48 pcp060308pcs sshd[24767]: error: PAM: User not known to the
underlying authentication module for illegal user ipss\\ub49006 from
xpn-l3a7281-udp01019032uds.uboc.com
Sep 13 13:55:48 pcp060308pcs sshd[24767]: Failed keyboard-interactive/pam for
invalid user ipss\\ub49006 from 10.20.32.36 port 4265 ssh2
ROOT CAUSE: Apparently occurs if a priviliged user (root) goes into YaST
Control Center > Network Services > Windows Domain Membership and then ABORTS
or cancels. Regardless if any changes were made or if the changes were left
as-is, this has the effect of breaking domain authentication. To resolve,
simply click FINISH next time and confirm by trying to log into an SSH session
with a domain logid.
WORK-AROUND TO RESOLVE WHEN AUTHENTICATION IS BROKEN:
1. As root (or privileged account), open the YaST Control Center > Network
Services > Windows Domain Membership.
2. Confirm the following are filled out and checked:
Domain: Your FQDN
x Also use SMB Information for Linux Authentication
x Create Home Directory on Login
x Offline Authentication
Sharing by Users is optional.
3. Click Finished.
NOTE: Even if the above are already set, clicking FINISHED seems to re-write
the configuration and/or restart the services that re-read the configuration,
which in turn seems to resolve the problem, until the above steps are repeated
again causing the problem to re-manifest.
NOTE: If the login failed and the above steps are followed, you will need to
close out the original session and start a new SSH session; otherwise, the
original session will always fail at the login prompt regardless of following
the above steps and will make it appear that the above fix is not working.

During an update from a previous SuSE Linux installation to 10.0, the file
/etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 is not being updated as it should. It should be
copied from /var/adm/fillup-templates/sysconfig.SuSEfirewall2, but that does
not happen, so the copy in sysconfig is an older one. However, in a new
installation the file in /etc/sysconfig is correct.
This bug might also affect other files in /var/adm/fillup-templates.

I am unable to online update or zen update.
If I attempt "zen-updater" I get the icon. Clicking it brings up a window
called Software Updater. Which sits there for a long time with the message
"Getting update list..." before the pop-up with the message
"System.MissingMethodException: Method not found:
'Novell.Zenworks.Zmd.Packaging.Public.IPackageManager.GetPatternUpdates'.

I have attempted to add an update location as an "Installation source (e.g.
ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/suse/suse/ but I get the message
Unable to create installation source from URL
"ftp://ftp.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/suse/suse/". Try Again?
I even tried manually downloading and installing patches to do with yast - but
rpm complains of missing dependencies.

openSUSE 10.2 Alpha 4
IBM Thinkpad R40 - IPW2100 Intel wireless works AOK on 10.1 10.0 SLED
On openSUSE 10.2 Alpha 4 have just got going on a WPA configured wireless
network.
Discovered that the wpa_supplicant was not working/loading correctly
Seems to me that the YAST network module is not configuring the wpa_supplicant
correctly.
Was able to copy across and modify the wpa_supplicant config file from my 10.1
and manually run the wpa_supplicant command and am writing this now from 10.2
There was no clue to wpa_supplicant not loaded in /var/log/messages just a
generic line
Sep 21 23:29:06 jims-alpha ifup: eth2 device: Intel Corporation
PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter (rev 04)
Sep 21 23:29:06 jims-alpha ifup: eth2 configuration:
wlan-id-00:04:23:56:62:a0
Sep 21 23:29:06 jims-alpha kernel: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth2: link is not ready
Sep 21 23:29:06 jims-alpha ifup: eth2
Sep 21 23:29:06 jims-alpha ifup: IP address: 192.168.x.xx/24
Note that I had tried the Networkmanager configuration for my first networking
configuration, then changed it to ifup, as it was not working. Then I
discovered the wpa_supplicant issue. Not sure if this has any bearing on issue.
Cheers
