tangerine.suse.de had a 10.0 installed. This was upgraded to 10.1 at some
point. Today I upgraded to 10.2a4+. The online update setup failed because of:
'no products to register'
I just installed 10.2 and I expect that this 10.2 is the new product,
regardless of what was there before.

Summary: udev does not create symlinks for ID_PATH rules
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: All
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Major
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Basesystem
AssignedTo: aj(a)novell.com
ReportedBy: olh(a)novell.com
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
udev as shipped with SLES10 (and 10.1) will not create symlinks for rules with
ID_PATH rules. The reason is the incomplete (or broken) /sbin/path_id.
line 360 in /sbin/path_id has this:
if [ -L $full_sysfs_path/subsystem ]; then
This does not trigger with SLES10 kernel, the correct code branch is taken.
With a newer kernel, the broken branch is used and as a result, nothing is
returned and the rule does not match.
If the above 'subsystem' is changed to 'sUbsystem' to hard disable the branch,
a 2.6.18 will again create value symlinks.
Updating udev.rpm is of course not an option.
If SLES10 were based in 10.0 instead of 10.1, it would mean that one can not
use the SLES10 kernel anymore after the package update because udevstart is
missing.
I demand an udev.rpm update with a fixed path_id. The 'subsystem' test above
and its code in the branch has to go.

The current kernel and gnutls update has a weird 'Zusammenfassung' window.
What is it supposed to tell? Looks like some useful content is missing.

Azerion
=============================
ZYPP is creating a full cache of all metadata available to be able working
without the network connection afterwards.
Optimizing this behavior might be a good idea.
Stano
==============================
Only thing that this behavior is usefull:
- if you replace your processor with a new type (and so probably your whole
motherboard)
- and you do not have an network connection.
For all those other situations (read: 99.99%) I think it is a bloat.

Summary: ZEN-updater doesn't have option to ignore (unwanted)
updates
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: SLED 10
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Update Problems
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: atte.nieminen(a)cs.helsinki.fi
QAContact: jsrain(a)novell.com
Found in SLED10 running with :
zmd-7.1.1.0-39.49
zen-updater-7.1.0-51.28
The thing is that zen doesn't have an option to lock updates.
I know this may sound funny, but I actually would like to ignore some updates.
ZEN-updater keeps showing me that orange (!) icon that updates are available.
When clicked the icon zen-updater shows updates, but from this point on user
can only uncheck/check the updates. The uncheck wont help here at all, because
the program can't remember this choice on next time the updater is run.
There isn't an option to lock the package. By this I mean that updater would't
show/check patches for that package with locked status.
For example I have downloaded newest kernel-source and compiled that myself,
but the kernel-default*.rpm isn't updated so the updater keeps telling me there
is a kernel update available. In some cases people want to stick with the old
version of some package and update others.
This is just one example with this kernel thing.
In the future there definitely should be some kind of "never update this
package"-option in zen.

Summary: Missing: 1) Find and remove duplicates in selected
folder, 2) paste unique
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Enhancement
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Evolution
AssignedTo: kharish(a)novell.com
ReportedBy: ralf.strandell(a)auriamail.net
QAContact: anagappan(a)novell.com
After many system upgrades and hardware changes since year 1992 and VAX,
I have about 11.000 archived emails (and 35.000 in spam folder) in 65
sub-subfolders. There are at least a few hundred duplicates somewhere in
the folders that I want to remove.
There is no "find and remove duplicates in current folder" feature in
Evolution. I would greatly appreciate such a tool.
Another good enhancement to Evolution would be "paste unique", where I could
select multiple messages and drop them in another folder, and then Evolution
would only drop the unique ones (i.e. not create duplicates).
