Version: Alpha 4
Platform: IA64
OS/Version: SuSE Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None

Once logged in a GNOME session, I cannot resume it if the screensaver has been
started. The screensaver dialog box seems to not recognize my password anymore.
This is with actual gnome-screensaver-2.15.7-3. I hadn't this problem with the
previous version (don't remember the version though).

10.2 a4 needs acpi=off on Siemens Esprimo P5615
without acpi=off ther kernel doesn't boot. The machine freezes without showing
anything.
I tried SLED10 on that machine and it works without problems.

I discovered that a SSID (no matter if broadcasted or not) with German Umlauts
fails. (WLAN-Router: FritzBOX 7170, WPA1) - should be fixed. If you can enter
umlauts they should be supported. I changed my SSID, but thanks for a better
future :-)

Summary: software manager: let the user REALLY abort process
Product: SUSE LINUX 10.0
Version: Final
Platform: x86
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.0
Status: NEW

Priority: P5 - None

QAContact: kkaempf(a)novell.com
Yesterday situation. I ran software manager from the Yast2 suite, but all the
servers I have on the list were unavailable.
So one after another there were reports about this. It was obvious I wanted to
abort this process (since I had no sense in such situation) but:
1) popup dialogs (which displays info about connecting to each server) don't
have "cancel" buttons
2) The main app has "abort" button but it does not work
So how is the user supposed to abort it? Connecting to several servers on not
so fast connection can be a lengthy process, believe me.

Summary: patch for flash requires user input (due to annoying

There has been an patch release for flash player 7 on 14. Sept. 2006
(flash-player-7.0.68.0-1.2). When trying to install this patch
with rug, I am asked to accept the license agreement.
Since I have to maintain pool of desktop PCs, I'd be interested
to install the updates unattended. With the appearance of this
flash player patch, "rug up" stops now asking for a keystroke.
Could this patch be reshipped without a license confirmation?
(When answering "no" to the license, no software at all installed,
despite a lot of other pending updates.)

Summary: Detection of ISA Card 3c509 does not work after
installation
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: i586
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Installation
AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: dieter.jurzitza(a)t-online.de
QAContact: jsrain(a)novell.com
The 3c509 is problemlessly detected by Yast and installable. However, after the
next boot, the network card is not present.
This is due to the fact that the module 3c509 is never loaded - even though the
corresponding configuration exists in /etc/sysconfig/hardware.
The entry is:
/etc/sysconfig/hardware/hwcfg-bus-isa-00:02.00
it's contents:
MODULE='3c509'
MODULE_OPTIONS=''
STARTMODE='auto'
I have to load the module 3c509 in /etc/init.d/boot to make it work. Then
everything works as expected (modprobe 3c509 in /etc/init.d/boot.local). This
should not be neccessary IMHO.
I appreciate to test anything neccessary to fix this.
Take care
Dieter Jurzitza

Summary: Translation by wiki, not SVN - faster results
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Alpha 4 plus

ReportedBy: haakon(a)nhn.no
QAContact: ke(a)novell.com
I can log into my openSUSE wiki account from any place on earth using only a
browser, but I cannot translate strings while in the wiki - translation
requires an svn client. Why? I've already authenticated once.
It would be much simpler if translation was done using the wiki as an interface
to the POT file. You could offer the original string on the left, the current
translation in the middle, and text fields on the right - hit an Update button
and that is the current translation.
If translators don't have to install and learn anything, only open an account,
more people can contribute.
Cheers,
Hakaon

I just checked a wiki page with the W3C HTML validator and got some error
reports. (I checked http://en.opensuse.org/Meetings, but the problem is most
probably caused by template bugs and therefore present on every wiki page.)
The following problems were found by the validator:
Left column:
value of attribute "id" must be a single token.
<div class='portlet' id='p-Use SUSE Linux'>
character "/" is not allowed in the value of attribute "id".
<li id="n-Tasks-/-Jobs"><a href="/Tasks">Tasks / Jobs</a
value of attribute "id" must be a single token.
<div class='portlet' id='p-About openSUSE'>
I recommend to rename these IDs to valid names.
Additionally, I found a missing space in the bottom menu (article, edit, ...):
<h5>Views</h5>
<ul>
<li id="ca-nstab-main"class="selected" ><a href="...">Article</a></li>
^^ ^^
There should be a space before "class" (and the one after "selected"
doesn't need to be there, but it doesn't hurt ;-)
(Surprisingly the validator did not complain about this...)
Please validate the non-english wikis also - for example, the german one has
"<br>" instead of "<br />" in the "Legal Information" link...

Summary: NX server forwards don't work
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Alpha 4
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW

Component: X11 Applications
AssignedTo: sndirsch(a)novell.com

tried to create a chain of forwarding NX servers and hit several issues either
in the node.conf file or in the doc.
Set up an "internal" machine with SSH authentication and tried to copy the
client key over to the "gateway" machine.
issue #1: SERVER_FORWARD_KEY="/usr/NX/share/client.id_dsa.key" in the gateway's
node.conf is bogus, since there is no /usr/NX/share.
workaround: copy to /usr/share/NX instead and adjust the value of
SERVER_FORWARD_KEY
issue #2: once you try a connect with KNX to the gateway machine, you only get
"connection timed out". (No AppArmor involved and no firewalls either)
issue #3: the comment in node.conf on the forwarding section has "use "SSL
encryption" for all connections" ... but there is no switch to turn on any SSL
stuff ...
