Hey,
Chatting with Klaas here about infrastructure issues, and I suggested
investigating OSUOSL:
http://osuosl.org/http://osuosl.org/services/hosting
Apparently, that's something we could discuss at the next team meeting.

Gents,
rumors continue to support the idea that we'll have Hackweek next
week! Lets pretend the rumors are right :-)
Hackweek means that you can do what you want - FOSS related ;-)
Don't forget to get an idea soon and try to speak about it in
public - you know the game. Maybe you can do something together
with other community friends.
Roland and me invited Frank Karlitschek to join us in Nürnberg,
he will be in the openSUSE basement from monday->wednesday.
We want to work on Owncloud integration and the Bretzn project,
both should finally go to the distro pre or post 12.1.
If you want to join the team for Bretzn or Owncloud even better,
I would appreciate that, it will be fun and interesting.
Yours,
Klaas

We received the following email and to me it sounds like there are some ways
we could lower the bar to make contribution easier (including better
documentation).
Is this something you want to consider doing after osc11?

Subject: annoying the new Suse user

Hi,
Now, I appreciate that this is only going to everyone the once,
but it is a regular pain in the rectum.
Just thought I'd let you know, because the *first few minutes* are SOooo
important, n'est-ce pas?
So perhaps you could just c*onsider the new user* and change something.
And this is just so ANNOYING:
Well, I just found a report on the Suse site which I wanted to add to, just
to be helpful & further the cause.
This means I need to register with Novell.
OK, fine, did that.
The the pita starts.
It seems Novell sends a 'plz confirm' message to new-user's email.
Yeah, fine, but it *doesn't tell you that **that *(and *not everyone* does
do that, note),
so I waste valuable effort-seconds getting my Suse attempted login
refused.
pita.
Right, I do the confirm, log into Suse.
But, again pita, I've now lost the ref for the bug report, & can't get back
there.
Back-arrow on browser just goes into a hole, lost, & suffer pain.
Not even in the history, for some reason.
(plz excuse the ref to back, & hole, & pain)
SO there we are
Change something, make it better?
Thinking of you,
Rggards,
bill

Hi boosters,
I promised (a LONG time ago) to write an 'what are the boosters up to'
for you. See below... I hope it helps to get something out on the
Boosters work again :D
Title: Connecting: Done, Attracting: in progress. Conference: coming!
The last <a href="http://retro.opensuse.org/">Milestone</a> finished <a
href="http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Boosters_team">by the Boosters</a>
was <a href="http://blog.hennevogel.de/what-are-the-boosters-up-
to-6/">improving the membership decision process in Connect</a>. After
that, we picked a new milestone: "Open Build Service Upstream
Attraction". We want to make it easier for projects to use OBS to
distribute their software!
<h2>Upstream Attraction</h2>
As you know, OBS is a great and easy way to build packages for a large
number of platforms. We've been thinking that this is really useful for
projects who want to provide packages to their users! A few projects
already use OBS for this but not too many. OBS is not yet perfect for
this. It does have an API and some other tools to make this possible,
but it is not all very polished and can use some debugging. Moreover, it
would be nice if OBS would offer standard 'building blocks' to integrate
it into the download page of projects!
<h3>the milestone</h2>
Our plan for this milestone is to pick an interested project and then
work with them to make OBS 'perfect' for them to distribute their
packages. Of course we develop everything in a generic way and once we
are done, other projects will be able to easily use this same
functionality.
We've already picked a project, <a
href="http://kmymoney2.sourceforge.net/index-home.html">KMyMoney</a> and
an implementation on the OBS side is done. Once KMyMoney implements it
successfully we can make it available for other projects!
<h2>The openSUSE conference</h2>
Over the last weeks we have moved most of our efforts to organizing <a
href="http://conference.opensuse.org">the openSUSE Conference</a>. We're
active in many area's - <a
href="http://lizards.opensuse.org/2011/08/17/opensuse-conference-2011-
schedule-available/">from the conference schedule</a> and website to <a
href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/hennevogel/sets/72157627362401654/">preparing
the location</a>. Help would still be welcome, by the way, you <a
href="http://lizards.opensuse.org/2011/07/29/volunteers-needed/">can
still become a volunteer for oSC 2011</a>!

* released M5 after tons of fixing and debugging
* greatly reduced my list of bugs - from ~50 to ~15
* not having done anything for the sprint
