- caught up with mails and everything
- finally merged our improved randr setup support upstream (bnc#468931)
- 1:1 with Klaas on the competency stuff
- had a look at bugreports, we are slipping again, and 11.2 release should be
a good time for hopefully closing a number of them - will try to do another
KDE bugsquashing soon

What I did last week:
- GNOME release team meeting
- mail people about GNOME 2.30 and GNOME 3.0, and prepare announcements
- participated in some internal discussion about non-openSUSE stuff
- helped a french PR agency about 11.2 release
- submitted three talks to Solutions Linux (french event in Paris, next
March)
- wrote a script to mirror the structure of the public build service to
the test build service we have (where structure is mostly about devel
projects)
What I plan to do this week:
- finish release team tasks for 2.30/3.0
- really write the code to abuse hermes
- will leave on Sunday for the Ubuntu Summit, where I'll wear my
upstream hat (and when it makes sense, my openSUSE hat)
What has been annoying me:
- lost internet access on Tuesday morning...
- can't figure out why my script to create accounts on the test build
service instance doesn't work

Moin,
we'll do a launch party for 11.2 on Thursday Nov 12 in Nürnberg.
We want to show openSUSE 11.2, hand out some media, help people installing
this beast etc. We hope to reach many people in the Nürnberg area.
As we do have in the Boosters team some people out of Prague I'd like to
encourage you to do a launch party there as well.
Thanks
M

Hi,
I was asking for some action item and I received one - to take a look at
Rails Engines and whether it can help us with our umbrella project. So
here is my first impression:
It is build on simple principle that you can add any application to the
subdirectory (vendor/plugins) and it will somehow work. Everything will
get propagated to the main application. And you can override anything
you want. One of the main problems I encounter was broken documentation
link [2] on Rails Engines home page. Example link worked so I tried to
put together few example applications gathered from different locations.
Other problems I encounter so far:
- To get your new engine working you have to restart server.
- If you have multiple engines with same view, it's hard to guess which
one will win.
- As engines gets mixed together results might be unexpected as they
will interact with each other (I ended up with page with multiple
heads from different engines)
Advantages:
- Less messy then scaffolding and better maintainable.
- Easy to create a modular application where modules can be maintained
separately even for total beginners like me.
So my finding so far suggests that it's nice way do develop and maintain
plugins with some features for main applications, but using it to
blindly put together several applications that don't know about each
other is not a good idea :-D So if our webs are modular enough (or we
will make them so), it might be useful to use this to give them same
look and feel and some features.
