I remember these problems in rearlier KDE (3.5.2-3) With 3.5.4 from Backports, I don't see this problem any more. KDE 3.5.4 from Backport OpenSuse 10.1 Radeon with Xorg drivers. If it's not the antialiasing / subpixel issues, try a better-hinted font. I found this interesting page http://home.no/slazz/nx6310/nx6310.html I managed to translate it, and for now the BIOS hang is gone both after reboot & shutdown. Add modprobe -r psmouse after comments to /etc/init.d/halt and /etc/init.d/reboot As I see, author also speaks something about frequency scaling. Note, that I use Ubuntu, but hope SUSErs will also take advantage of that.
