I tried ctrl-alt-del and other combinations, which didn't work. The music player keeps playing in the background, the mouse is responsive, but i can't do anything on the screen. I tried to leave it for an hour or so to try and settle down, but the screen is still locked. So, music plays in the background, the mouse is responsive, but the screen is locked. This happens usually when i throw a few programs for the computer to handle, but it shouldn't have a problem with them, since i have 4 gigs of ram, and a dual core 2.1 ghz processor and integrated graphics from intel. I tried to run apps via the terminal to get an output, but i can't access the terminal once it freezes. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.Rhythmbox or Music playing 2.Doing anything 'heavier', like having a music player, web browser and file manager open at the same time. 3. Actual Results: Computer freezes, music plays, mouse is responsive, but the screen is locked/frozen and i can't click on anything. Expected Results: The computer should work normally without a glitch whatsoever. It happened with various themes, including the default Adwaita theme. But after an update of the system vlc crashes without an error message (sometimes it gives a segmentation fault). I have added the output of 'vlc -vvvv http://www.pm-srv.de:29000' This does not happen in opensuse 12.2 and on 12.3 'mplayer http://www.pm-srv.de:29000' works perfectly. I played around with the output devices in vlc, but it did not help. When i disable the sound, vlc works (but without sound). Shutting down also takes more than one minute before KDE-desktop gets shut. With the previous version installed, Dolphin or Gwenview opens up immediately, shutting down is also only a matter of seconds until KDE is closed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I don't use logrotate, I don't want to use logrotate. So when I went to uninstall it in 12.2 I got the usual popup warning me but this time instead of listing what it says it will break which is untrue and allowing to confirm once that yes go ahead like it used too, I had to do it a whole bunch of times. PITA logrotate should not have those dependencies that "it will break something" because it won't and if people don't want to use it that should be their choice. Jan 15 11:50:13 endymion systemd[1]: PID file /var/spool/clientmqueue/sm-client.pid not readable (yet?) after start. This looks surprisingly similar to bug #732912, although this one was closed as fixed. My take is that systemd tries to read the PID files for 5 seconds and finally gives up. And I suspect this is caused by wrong permissions on the PID files. All pid files in /var/run have permissions 644 except for sendmail.pid (and sm-notify.pid.) /var/spool/clientmqueue/sm-client.pid is also not world-readable. Another suspicious thing is that both pid files contain more than just the pid value, contrary to all other pid files.
