But the devices are recognized by the system. fdisk -l shows the device e.g. as /dev/sdd1 57 29119 4531+ 1 FAT12 But it takes some time after fdisk -l shows this device. The program stops for many seconds before recognizing this device. lsusb -v shows all information about the device. I am able to mount the device as root. This problem occurs since openSuse 12.3 (after some Updates). It did not occur on new installed Suse 12.3. It occurs on several machines with openSuse 12.3 and now I detected this bug also in Suse 13.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. There is a theme bug, which has as a result, if you select a file in file manager (PCManFM), its filename does not show anymore, because of the selection colour. In openSUSE 12.3, only Adwaita theme (in System-> Preferences-> Customize Look and Feel-> Widget), appears to work. The other themes have a similar issue. In openSUSE 13.1 Beta, this change to the Adwaita theme, is NOT stored, after we press the Apply button, close the "Customize Look and Feel" window, and reopen it. So the filenames do not show in PCManFM file manager, due to the theme bug. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open file manager (PCManFM). 2.Select a file. Actual Results: The filename of the selected file does not show. Expected Results: The filename of the selected file should be visible. Every time I try to bypass one issue it fails at another. Original problem. Selecting the update software from within the KDE notifier fails. Something about unexpected errors and user cancelled installation. Don't recall exact details. Next, run the online software update from within yast. Fails to launch Next, run yast2 from command line this still fails, but displays Run command: /sbin/yast2 online_update & /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base online_update qt /sbin/yast2: line 375: 11683 Illegal instruction $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS Running /sbin/Yyast2 online_update myself gives the same error. Next I edited /sbin/yast2, found line 375 and added an echo line in front of it. Now when I run it I get Run command: /sbin/yast2 online_update & /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/y2base online_update qt /sbin/yast2: line 376: 11683 Illegal instruction $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS That hits my level of incompetence in tracking that down further. BUT. This has never been an issue during installation, but with 12.3 I encounter this: - partitioner makes a proposal to partition /dev/mmcblk0 shrinking the existing windows partition and adding root swap home. I enter expert mode and edit all the suggested partitions away, and recreate my usual setup on /dev/sda6 root, /dev/sda8 home, /dev/sda2 swap after that, the partitioner still believes it should shrink the filesystem on the sd-card, which I prefer to not be touched at all. I searched the options, but found nothing where I could say 'dont shrink.' My solution was to eject the card and start all over. System error code was: -3034 I actually created two LVM physical volumes: * /dev/sda6: not used for anything; I only created it to reserve space on the disk for another installation. * /dev/sda7: contains some logical volumes (and is used for the installation). The second physical volume (dev/sda7) was created OK after I clicked "Continue" on the error message. During preparing the virtual harddrive I get the error code 1007 for /hde/sda5 A can only provide a screenshot. To handle it with nfs for getting yast2 logs from installation I have not the time in moment. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install Windows 7 Sp1 engl. debug version 64bit on virtualbox 4.1.6 with 80GB dynamical .vdi virtula harddrive. 2.Shutdown the vm after install successes. 3.Attach drive with openSUSE12.1 final 64bit dvd in virtualbox vm settings for the windows 7 machine. 4.Try to install openSUSE12.1 64bit with ext4 and separate home partition(default) -> Shrinking the windows partition is automatically done by the openSUSE installation environment. 7.See the parallel installation fail with eroor code 1007 Actual Results: A parallel installation between Windows 7 Sp1(first OS) and openSUSE12.1(second OS) is not possible. Expected Results: A parallel installation should be possible without errors.
