Hi,
I'm running since about 3 years Linux on the ThinkPad Z60m, an I upgraded from
10.3 to 11.1 beginning of the year. Since then I get frequent firmware errors:
Jan 7 12:23:48 z60m dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
Jan 7 12:23:48 z60m dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.35 -- renewal in 1541
seconds.
Jan 7 12:40:25 z60m kernel: ipw2200: device failed to start within 500ms
Jan 7 12:40:25 z60m kernel: ipw2200: Unable to load firmware: -62
Jan 7 12:40:25 z60m kernel: ipw2200: Failed to up device
Or
Jan 9 12:15:15 z60m dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
Jan 9 12:15:15 z60m dhclient: bound to 192.168.1.33 -- renewal in 1557
seconds.
Jan 9 12:21:28 z60m kernel: ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting.
Jan 9 12:21:29 z60m kernel: ipw2200: Firmware error detected. Restarting.
Jan 9 12:41:12 z60m dhclient: DHCPREQUEST on eth1 to 192.168.1.1 port 67
Jan 9 12:41:12 z60m dhclient: DHCPACK from 192.168.1.1
The later message is uncritical, the first one requires a reboot to get the
WLAN up and running again. Just switching it off is not sufficient

Summary: The installation partitioner suggests removal of the
mac os partition eventhough there is plenty of other
space
Classification: openSUSE

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.5)
Gecko/2008121300 SUSE/3.0.5-2.5 Firefox/3.0.5
The default original partitioning on an intel mac is:
Disk /dev/sda: 320GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 20.5kB 210MB 210MB fat32 EFI System Partition boot
2 210MB 53.8GB 53.6GB hfs+ Apple_HFS_Untitled_1
(there is a lot of free space after 2 as you can see)
there is usually one or more other partitions after those depending on what one
did.
The default solution in the partitioning section is to remove all partitions
and create the necessary. This is highly undesirable and for many unacceptable
solution. A new, relatively clueless user is not very likely to install
openSUSE when (s)he finds that it wants to erase the whole computer.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start openSUSE 11.1 or 11.2 installation on an intel mac.
2.Look at the default partitioning suggested by the installer
3.
Actual Results:
The installer wants to remove all partitions and create the necessary.
Expected Results:
It should leave the firs two partitions: the EFI and the mac os. The others
could be left on the installer's mercy but the first two are essential. They
should not be touched. May be the second (the mac os) could be auto mounted but
that's not really necessary.

pidgin/libpurple 2.4.1 from openSUSE 11.0 fails to authenticate against the
openfire3 xmpp server and GoogleTalk (also XMPP); however, the pidgin 2.4.1
from /repositories/GNOME:/Community/openSUSE_10.3 worked with it, as does the
2.4.2 from Gnome:/Community/openSUSE_11.0 now. Please fix the opensuse pidgin.

Sorry if this is elsewhere, I could not find it. The above file is missing in
RC1. I noticed it when attempting to install DNS. Afterward it also
complained about it when trying to install DHCP. Simply adding the file
manually made the problem go away so I'd say it's an easy fix for someone
before this goes Gold Master. Using Yast2 under KDE4 FYI.
