I will not skip /usr/share/sane/descriptions/unsupported.desc because even for scanners which are known to be unsupported there should be user access by default because the user might find and install a third-party driver. For USB scanners with known USB IDs I will create a fixed HAL fdi file with all those entries and add "scanner" to the list of strings in info.capabilities For SCSI scanners which identify itself with "scsi.type = scanner" I will add one fixed generic entry like item A) in comment #6 and add "scanner" to the list of strings in info.capabilities For USB scanners with unknown USB IDs and/or for SCSI scanners which identify itself not with "scsi.type = scanner" I will let YaST write appropriate entries to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/80-scanner.fdi as described in comment #6 (but in contrast to what is described in comment #6 I will add "scanner" to info.capabilities). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

I did very little during installation - apart from tweaking partitioning & GRUB settings, it was otherwise pure default. Is there any log file that will be useful?
