Summary: Can't access the Exchange Global Address List
Product: SUSE Linux 10.1
Version: Final
Platform: i686
OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Evolution
AssignedTo: kharish(a)novell.com
ReportedBy: David.Walker(a)ucop.edu
QAContact: anagappan(a)novell.com
I've been using Evolution's Exchange plugin for a couple of months without
problem, except I can't access the Exchange Global Address List, and I can't
set permissions for others to access my calendar. I believe, though, that the
permissions problem is actually just a result of the fact that I can't access
the Global Address List.
When I click on Global Address List in Evolution's Contacts window, I get an
error popup saying "Error loading addressbook. We were unable to open this
addressbook. This either means you have entered an incorrect URI or the server
is unreachable."
>From tcpdump and the server logs, we can see that Evolution does, in fact,
communicate with the server and authenticate successfully, but I still don't
get access. Is there any debugging output on my end that I can check for
clues? FYI, I tried installing the patched Evolution 2.6.0 mentioned in bug
#179483, but I got the same message.

all image= sections in lilo.conf should get the optional flag.
This will reduce the possible failure cases if something fails during a kernel
update. A missing default image= is fatal, so it wont hurt.

Component: X.Org

In the xorg.conf :
Section "DRI"
Group "video"
Mode 0660
EndSection
This is ok with local users. The users are included in the group "video"
automatically.
When you have users authenticated wia an external mechanism like LDAP, then the
users are not part of the video group automatically. This leads to problems for
the users when they than need to use 3D graphics,
My suggestion is that the limitation should either be
- removed,
- losened up (0666)
- LDAP and SAMBA authentication automatically generates a new group and updates
the xorg.conf file with this group in stead. (video_ldap?)
This problems leads to frustration and troubleshooting in networks where
theuser is not authenticated locally.
Regards Birger

Summary: banshee shouldn't install precompiled Boo DLLs
Product: openSUSE 10.3
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal
Priority: P5 - None
Component: GNOME
AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome(a)forge.provo.novell.com
ReportedBy: andreas.hanke(a)gmx-topmail.de
QAContact: qa(a)suse.de
Banshee installs the following precompiled DLLs (without sources in the source
tarball):
/src/Boo/Boo.Lang.Interpreter.dll
/src/Boo/Boo.Lang.Compiler.dll
/src/Boo/Boo.Lang.dll
/src/Boo/Boo.Lang.Parser.dll
There are two problems with this: It's potential code duplication (if the user
installs other Boo-dependenent packages like monodevelop) and, in general,
everything in the distribution should, if possible, be built from source so
that rebuilding all source packages results in a completely rebuilt
distributions.
Looking at the code, it seems that the necessary infrastructure is already in
place: Banshee can easily make use of a system-wide Boo installation, if
present. Why isn't this used in the SUSE package?

Summary: helix-dbus-server: simplifications/fixes for the startup

Attached you can find a patch for helix-dbus-server that implements the
following changes:
- Remove AS_AC_EXPAND. This macro is broken by design, violates GNU coding
standards[1], is incompatible with autoconf >= 2.60[2], and, even worse,
helix-dbus-server doesn't actually use it, so it is dead code that should be
removed.
- Remove code from configure.ac that more or less emulates AS_AC_EXPAND, for
the same reasons, and because it is completely unnecessary because the
variables are used from shell code only and therefore don't need to be
expanded. The shell can do that at runtime.

In GNOME, if you connect to a remote file system (tried cifs and ssh via the
"Connect to a remote server" applet) and try to play songs from there in
Banshee, it does not work (No error message no nothing). Only way is to copy
them locally.
It should be possible to play music from a remote file system (gnomevfs?)

My program executes a java class from a native thread after attaching the
thread to the Sun 1.5 JVM, this results in the following exception:
Exception in thread "Thread-0" javax.xml.parsers.FactoryConfigurationError:

This exception does not occur if I execute the java class from the main thread.
This exception normally occurs if the org.xml.sax.driver property is not set
correctly. This leads me to believe that the issue is related to it.
Please note that the same code works without any issue when executed using
IBM's JVM.
I hava attached a tar file with a sample test program and supporting files
which demonstrate the problem. The source code is in the file: server-sun.cpp.
To run the program execute ./run_test.sh.
