Summary: Evolution never saves password for IMAP and SMTP
Product: openSUSE 10.2
Version: Beta 2 plus
Platform: x86-64
OS/Version: Other
Status: NEW
Severity: Blocker
Priority: P5 - None
Component: Evolution

Hi,
The bug #216039, that was recently closed, still persists on my openSUSE 10.2
Beta2+ install... yesterday, I've upgraded all my system from Factory, using
smart and the repo avaiable there.
Even with a new home directory, Evolution still does not save the password for
my IMAP and my SMTP-Auth server. Everytime I send a message, Evolution asks the
password for SMTP. Everytime I close, and restart Evolution, it asks the IMAP
server password.
Regards,
Thiago

Summary: Printing From Java Applications Fails With "No print
service found."
Product: openSUSE 10.2

Platform: x86
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: Normal

Component: Java

I am unable to print from Java applications. Both jEdit 4.3pre7 (a programmer's
editor -- <http://jedit.org/>) and <oXygen/> 7.2 (an XML editor --
<http://www.oxygenxml.com/>) report "No print service found." when printing is
attempted (this is true for both the "Page Setup" and "Print" commands).
(Eclipse does not enable its Print command. It's unknown whether this is
related.)
The symptom appears to be 100% reproducible. There is no perceptible delay in
receiving this response.
I have configured a remote CUPS printer and can successfully print to that
printer from other applications.
To reproduce: Launch a Java application that supports printing. Issue its "Page
Setup" command (if any) or its "Print" command. The "No print service found."
alert should appear immediately.

Fresh install of OpenSuSE 10.2 Beta 1. HP dv5224 laptop AMD Turion. When
trying to use the synaptic touchpad, mouse will stop and jump around the
screen. Dmesg reports lost bytes and having to resync the driver.
This make using the touch pad difficult to use, especially when on the road and
no access to external mouse.

Hi,
in order to properly (without xmodmap hacks) support laptop keys by default,
sax2 has to configure the keyboard map to the microsoft multimedia layout. It
would be nice if it would do that by default in all cases that make sense (e.g.
even non-laptop installations with keyboards that could possibly be such a
layout) to make multimedia/laptop keys work on as many machines as possible.
the current xmodmap hack is the file
in /usr/share/hotkey-setup/hotkey-setup.xmodmap
I would like to get rid of that.

I upgraded to RC1 from the Factory tree. The new kernel image was added to the
GRUB menu, at the bottom of list although it was set, correctly, to be the
default. This is fine for a simple boot.
However, when I then suspended the laptop and booted it back up, it booted the
failsafe system. When I moved the new kernel image to the top of list
(changing no other settings), rebooted and then suspended again, it resumed
fine.

Use of uninitialized value in addition (+) at
/usr/share/YaST2/modules/Bootloader_API.pm line 185 (#1)
(W uninitialized) An undefined value was used as if it were already
defined. It was interpreted as a "" or a 0, but maybe it was a mistake.
To suppress this warning assign a defined value to your variables.
To help you figure out what was undefined, perl tells you what operation
you used the undefined value in. Note, however, that perl optimizes your
program and the operation displayed in the warning may not necessarily
appear literally in your program. For example, "that $foo" is
usually optimized into "that " . $foo, and the warning will refer to
the concatenation (.) operator, even though there is no . in your
program.
the default= setting for lilo.conf did not work
I set the linux section manually
I added boot=/dev/sda2 manually in the config file editor.

Summary: Improvement for LONGTMP - preserve certain (user's?)

For the "normal" /tmp directory, YAST provides settings like TMP_DIRS_TO_CLEAR
and OWNER_TO_KEEP_IN_TMP.
For the LONGTMP-directory (presumably this could be /var/tmp), there is no such
fine tuning possible, like e.g. "OWNER_TO_KEEP_IN_LONGTMP".
However, this drawer is completely filled up on my computer, I cannot even
summarily delete files as bash complains about a too long argument. Morever,
there are some files in this drawer I don't want to be deleted, especially the
KDE cache for my user ID (Favicons and so on).
I would like to have some setting to selectively clean the LONGTMP, too. So
that e.g. I could exempt my user name from a routine clean sweep.
