Comments and thanks for the conference

Hello folks, thanks for doing a great job to all boosters and others involved in making last week's conference a big success. If you're wondering what good came out of it, here's an example: I learned a lot and am more motivated to do OpeSUSE-specific things. At my party yesterday I was pleasently surprised when all TEN OpenSUSE DVDs (from the conference) were taken by friends. They went like hotcakes, and these are serious telecom engineers and server developers who I've worked with. Other friends are less technical Win32 users, but were also openly interested in trying out the OpenSUSE Live DVD. I'll be coming by Nuernberg sometime soon to get more DVDs (for our next party here in Munich), and have already signed up for the ambassadors mailing list. Egbert's Week 41 ================ - Dealt with some travel arrangements - openFATE project: * added notification status of actors to openFATE: each who doesn't receive notifications gets an icon that informs about this (the tooltip to the icon explains the icon's meaning) * added information about notification status of a newly added actor to openFATE. If the user doesn't receive notifications, yet a url is offered to compose an email to this user to ask him to change this. * added interface to notify.o.o to query for notification status. Got no feedback at all about that. - Lots of frustrating feedback about openSUSE on the hallways and on the research mailinglists. Seems to me that people are not informed about managements decissions around openSUSE, ie. that its open now. Hi, What I did last week: + openSUSE-GNOME: - tons of work to cleanup packages, and learnt a few things (dived deep in baselibs.conf, eg -- interesting that the GNOME packages are doing some advanced stuff there, more than most packages) - encouraged (and helped a bit) fcrozat who's working on creating an Studio appliance to test GNOME Shell from git - fixed some last minute issue in GNOME Shell - investigated some 11.3 issues, to prepare updates + Junior Jobs: - not really part of the JJ milestone, but I proposed some Junior Job to the GNOME team: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-gnome/2010-10/msg00021.html + Events: - prepared talks for JDLL - took some notes about talks for openSUSE Conference - Went to JDLL on Friday (still there), to give a talk about GNOME 3 and a talk about the OBS + Upstream: - participated to the GNOME Foundation Advisory Board meeting to talk about changes proposed by the release team + Misc: - took time to help some new faces in #opensuse-gnome - played with Studio a bit more (had to recover my very old account first...)
