What I did last week: - organized & attended the GSettings hackfest: + http://live.gnome.org/Hackfests/GSettings2010 + we made really good progress: good plan to help port applications (I wrote a gsettings backend using gconf + a script to convert gconf schemas to gsettings schemas), good plan to migrate the user data in gconf, we merged the gsettings code in glib (fixed bugs, added missing stuff), etc. + I ported a small application step-by-step in git so that it can be used as a tutorial for other developers: http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-utils/log/?h=gsettings-tutorial - I was full-time on the hackfest, so didn't do anything else What I'll be doing in the next two weeks: - vacation! hi, for the last few weeks: Administration: - moved narwal to the xen cluster with berthold - multiple meetings for administration - future of file hosting (see below) - planning for migration of more hosts to xen - fire working: - obs - download infrastructure Community - we will get a pub/opensuse/projects/ hosting space. Upstream: - long discussions with rubygems upstream on better integration with the distros. discussion started on the rubygems mailinglist to get feedback from other distros. outcome: http://wiki.github.com/jbarnette/rubygems/packaging-designs Packaging: - sec fixes dovecot, memcached and irssi - lighttpd needed a fix after the openssl update. - ruby 1.9 packages for testing (see devel:languages:ruby:1.9) - started working on a packaging policy that incorporates 1.9 Concepts: - started: authentication in opensuse - started: ruby packaging policy (see above) Documentation: - gathering material for presentation about alice - prepared a few postings on packaging. [RED] [AMBER] [GREEN] - Peoplemanagement - Did training on employee development - Hermes: removed subscriptions of unused emails . Had to provide a script for that -> some coding. - Hermes: Added support for multi delivery rendering of messages - Installed openSUSE 11.3 Milestone 5, feels very smooth. - created a test for applying Azubis. - Talks about Hermes with Meego people visiting nürnberg - Discussions about openFATE: New opinions to open up even more came up, eg. drop the status translation. Needs to be revisited. [What I did] - usual Contrib stuff: review packages, helped people with contributions (off-list), update packages - install 11.3 M5 - port opensc to libassuan2 interface - fix some build failures in Factory - training on first aid, fire prevention and work safety - attended all-hands with Ralf Flaxa - did some changes to our fetchmail package as I was asked by invis-server guy at CLT - work on parted: pushed our alway-print-geometry patch upstream - implemented MD array support [This week] - be at Linux Expo - catch up with wiki transition progress, work on goals

Egbert's Week 14/15 * Plowed thru tons of email left over from vacation. * Fixed X crashes on vt switch when software cursor was selected. RandR mindlessly called into harware cursor enable without checking if this was active and initialized. Submitted updated package for SLE11 SP1. * Resynced X11 patches for SLE11 with X11:XOrg, added IA64 PIO bug fix from SLE11 to X11:XOrg. * Updated and Integrated patches for 'seamless boot' into X11:XOrg * Updated fixes for 'seamless boot'. * Debugged another "X11 steals 100 percent CPU time issue": XSync idle time alarms constantly retrigger although set inactive. * Finally bumped version number of kernel bootsplash code. * Wrote message for opensuse-factory about "Seamless Boot Experience for * OpenSUSE Factory". * My talk for LinuxTag got accepted. * Vacation: rewired my appartment -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-boosters+help(a)opensuse.org
