This reverts a change from Peter Poeml from March 2005: mod_php5 only runs with prefork MPM, and we have different ways to run php5 by now; prefork is default-conservative and may vanish. - rcapache2 now points at service (systemd facilitation), not at /etc/init.d/apache2 any more. /etc/init.d/apache2 is gone, but can be found at /usr/share/apache2/rc.apache2 .
