I wrote about excluding them from default setup. Default setup should be stable, safe and secure. When the user has extra needs or/and knows exactly the risks, no problem she/he can install nouveau or other risky package. When you disable nouveau packages, it means that you disable the GPU rendering, and all rendering is done on software instead, and the driver serves only for mode setting -- which costs log of power, and people don't want it. And, the instability of nouveau depends pretty much on the chip model, the kernel version, and the usage pattern. So the only remaining thing (IMHO) would be to removing those packages from default setups. I.e. the package could be available, but only if user directly requests for its installation, it shouldn't be implicitly installed simply by choosing XFCE/KDE/etc installation environment. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
