Whereas I got in love to Opensuse (I did start with it wo knowing anything...ubuntu or Suse...I have taken Suse and Im loving it), there is a couple of current options from comercial OS systems that I feel it is missing even in the last version of Opensuse. Particulary I would like to suggest the necessity of having an external screen detection system, I heart that some people manages to do it manually, but I think that such functionality should be part of an OS at the level of Opensuse. I have in in mind other couple of whishes, I will come with them in a following post in case my suggestions are taken in consideration. The bugreporting helper that pops up is not user friendly. It expects the user to know what particular debuginfo RPMs to install in order to get a useful bug report. It also expects the user to toil through a long "wizard" that asks a lot of questions. It's not cool to punish the user on top of an application crash. Does KDE hate us or what? The user shouldn't have to do anything more than giving the accept to send the crash information or not. Examples: Firefox, Windows. If KDE couldn't come up with something easier than this, at least SUSE should do something to work around it. My suggestion would be a way to install all debuginfo RPMs for every package that's already installed. This way, all bugreports will be useful. (yast2-samba-client seems to offer this as "expert option", however I don't get it to work.) The different desktop environments offer access with the "smb:/"-protocol, however this doesn't work really consistently. E.g. it doesn't help with consoles and scripts, and even some desktop apps, namely KDE's own Amarok, refuse to use the smb:/-protocol. So I think a Yast2-module - which should be simple to do, as it would only be a frontend to /etc/fstab or /etc/samba/smbfstab - to mount SAMBA shares should be implemented. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/307746

It's sometimes due to the quality of the initial implementation; other times, the feature itself isn't appealing to large subset of the userbase. Examples of this type of features include compiz, beagle and pulseaudio. Given that features which generate a lot of controversies are desktop related as they are the most visible and that as a distro openSUSE wants to ship and experiment with new features, having an easy and unified way to opt in and out of controversial features would resolve a lot of griefs without harming test coverage too much. I suggest installing new features by default and ask whether the user wants to opt in and out of those features from ggreeter. It wouldn't add another step while still providing choices upfront.
