I'll study it to see what I can do for sorting out the problem with my scanner. There are a few things that puzzle me: (1) As already said, when I connect the very same All-In-One device with the very same USB cable to my old notebook that runs Leap15.3 scanning works perfectly fine. Both, my old notebook and my new notebook run HPLIP 3.21.10. (2) After I initially installed Tumbleweed on my new notebook sometime in 2022-03, scanning was working perfectly fine. Later, after running $> sudo zypper refresh && sudo zypper dup --no-allow-vendor-change (per today: VERSION_ID="20220428") scanning stopped working. Does any of this ring any bell with anyone out there? Many thanks in advance! -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

On my old PC I looked up what version of libusb is working fine: it's libusb-1_0-0 v1.0.21-3.3.1. Does this information help at all trying to allocate the problem? Are there any information dumps I can provide for finding the problem? I'll be happy to provide this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

The package in https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:fstrba:branches:Printing is loading libhpaio just fine. I submitted to the devel project. It is a broken configure.in script that caused the problem. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

this is the exact same issue, that I addressed in home:frispete:Tumbleweed/hplip with hplip-3.20.6-python-includes.patch. Since this patch is the proper upstream patch, I hope, you Friedrich don't mind, if I decline your Q&D fix, and replace it with something a bit more elaborated (that has the chance to get accepted upstream one day).
No problem. As long as it enters the Printing quickly and I can scan, I don't care which patch it is :) -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually, I meant Publishing. Just what puzzles me is that there is this problem that prevents hpaio to be loaded. There is a known fix and a working submission. Yet the hplip package is happily unfixed. I understand that automatic submission to Factory is not so good for big projects. That is why I don't do it in Java:packages either. Just this means that the OBS repositories will be full of branched hplip packages with different slightly different fixes and the main package in rubbles :/ sigh -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yeah, now, that I'm co-maintaining this package, I will try to address this. In fact, it went to Factory too quick this time. We gave ecsos update the precedence, and I was about to test it (but I was distracted from my day job). During preparation, I noticed your submission. Submitted to Factory a minute ago. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

My system is running snapshot 20220517 which includes a rebuilt "hplip" package; this is what I have here now:
hplip-sane-3.22.4-1.1.x86_64 sane-backends-1.1.1-1.4.x86_64
Unfortunately the scanner still won't be detected:
The fix is now only in Printing, the submission did not yet make it to the snapshot. It is still in staging. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
