[Bug 993091] New: Virtualbox guest drivers crash sddm
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=993091 Bug ID: 993091 Summary: Virtualbox guest drivers crash sddm Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Virtualization:Other Assignee: virt-bugs@suse.de Reporter: aloisio@gmx.com QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 687608 --> http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/attachment.cgi?id=687608&action=edit dmesg log, vbox 5.18 drivers on guest, running vbox 5.20 on host I recently updated my Tumbleweed guest and discovered that after a reboot I could no longer access the display manager. (sddm[952]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f2aed964133 sp 00007ffd2c28f380 error 4 in libQt5Core.so.5.6.1[7f2aed6a6000+4c9000] also see attached log) Host is openSUSE 13.2, guest Tumbleweed, virtualbox 5.0.20 on host and 5.0.18 drivers on guest. I've tried several combinations using the builds in the Virtualization repository and manually installing the drivers from the virtualbox additions cd, but the only difference was that vboxvideo.ko segfaulted. Could this also be possibly related to https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=983927 ? I'm also using nvidia drivers on the host. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Actually this is a known problem with vboxvideo on Tumbleweed, see http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2016-08/msg00064.html
That's interesting. I read the whole tread but I couldnt understand if there's a consensus about the incompatibility being with xorg-x11-server 1.18.4 or kernel-desktop 4.7. And perhaps more importantly if the bug is tracked somewhere upstream. I couldn't find anything in the vbox bugtracker, perhaps it should be submitted there as well? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
