Unfortunately, NSCD seems to already be running at this point in time, thus is does not respect the changed configuration file. A "rcnscd reload" or systemd equivalent is needed to make NSCD aware of this change. See attached screenshot. Otherwise, the system will not be in the correct state after finishing the installation. A reboot of course will help, as the NSCD restarts and respects the new config. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I'm attaching a patch that fixes this, although file names that include a single quote character will still be mishandled. Now I use workaroud: Open hp-toolbox, select my printer, use option „Download Firmware“ to send required proprietary plug-in to printer. After this, I can print. Reproducible: Always Maybe in openSUSE 12.2, I see bug#805016 : At each attach of printer, dialog propted to install proprietary plug-in, but printer just worked. And if I followed dialog and installed plug-in, dialog still opened at next time. So I just ignored that bug. I think that a) the message should not display unless the plug-in is really necessary, b) if it does display, then it should not say that the plug-in is required when it is not, c) at the very least, there should be an option: "Do not display this message again".
