However, on my openSUSE 12.2 system (installed from the DVD, not Live CD) acpid was installed by default. I believe it should still be installed by default on 12.3 as most x86 systems use ACPI. In 12.1, this was silently changed to /usr/bin/php, with no "php5" command available (e.g. via symlink) anymore, and subsequently broke pretty much all script invocations from the command line. If torrent contains a single file, 'Open Folder' always opens this file in associated software instead of showing it in dolphin. So if want to copy this file, for example, a have to open containing folder manually and search for file. 'Open Folder' doesn't open folder even if torrent IS a folder, it opens first file in a folder instead. So 'Open Folder' doesn't do what it should do - it doesn't open folder. After installed, and fully updated, it can't be used without this parameter either. Any attempt to do so results in a locked machine. Passing "acpi=off" solves this problem - but creates another. I can't shutdown the computer. It goes all the way, until showing "the system will be halted intermediately". And then... nothing. It doesn't turns itself off. I got the same response with systemd and systemvinit. Also, "halt", "halt -p", "init 0" and "shutdown" gave me the same result. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install OpenSuse 12.1 (x86_64) 2. Do a full update 3. Shut down the system. Actual Results: The system is halted, but not turned off. Expected Results: The system should turn off at the end of the process. I did a minimal install, text mode. The drive is a SSD Corsair, but I can reproduce this with a Seagate, 500GB. The motherboard is an Intel, model DP67BA, step 3. This is the fourth motherboard of this model, and the only one with this problem. The only difference is the BIOS. This is an easy-to-solve security issue. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a terminal. 2. Run any command as super user, e.g. "sudo man zypper" 3. Enter an incorrect password for sudo Actual Results: "Sorry, try again" appears immediately, up to a maximum of three times, whence the cycle can be immediately started again. Expected Results: There should be a delay in the error message appearing. Lacking this delay makes brute-force hacking of a system infinitely easier, as millions of incorrect passwords could be tried every minute, rather than the scant few that could be tried with a simple delay. Implementing this delay is common in *nix systems, and should be implemented here. It was an upgrade with formatted root. Got the same results on 2 my computers. Solved by launching upgrade from distribution DVD and reinstalling kernel and grub. PS.
