For this, environment variables are set. To make this more configurable for other RPMs, a directory /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/ has been added in the past, to place additional scripts in there. However, while /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc sources /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.common, the scripts from /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.d/ are executed, not sourced. The result is, that environment variables set there are not passed to the X11-session. An example, where this fails is the RPM libcanberra-gtk, that sets GTK_MODULES. Fortunately, this is easy to fix and the developer has attached a patch in the upstream bugzilla [1] only yesterday. the patch is against gnome-bluetooth-3.4.1, which is in Factory but not in openSUSE:12.2 (which still has 3.4.0). I have the patched packages at [2], and tested them to see that they work. I think this is a critical issue that needs fixing for openSUSE 12.2 by pushing gnome-bluetooth-3.4.1 and this patch together to openSUSE:12.2. "zypper in cdda2wav" installs icedax, but icedax fails to behave like cdda2wav. "zypper se -s -d cdda2wav" shows cdrkit-cdrtools-compat, so "zypper in cdda2wav" has to install exactly that package, which in turn could also pull in icedax. Now brasero still fails because according to some patch attached to some ubuntu bug it calls cdda2wav --version and expects a certian text. This bug may be related to bug #732590 and bug #725948. During second stage a proxy was configured once again because booting installation with proxy=URL does not automatically honor that proxy setting for the installed system. Later in second stage the configured proxy was used to download the 12.1 repo urls. After initial login the user has to configure a proxy once more in his settings so that firefox has a proxy as well. The reasoning is that the zypp folks claim that "vendor stickiness" should be enough but it doesn't really help if the whole OBS is one single vendor. Personally I would prefer some "Smart" style where I am able to set different priorities for repositories __as well as packages__ but since this wont happen the only solution seems to be to enable different vendors per repository on OBS. E.g. simply use the repo names - home:bitshuffler for my own one or openSUSE:Factory or KDE:KDE4:Communtiy and so on. The reasoning is that I would like to be able to get packages for some application from a certain repository.
