Specifically sntp -p no -r pool.ntp.org is equivalent to ntpdate pool.ntp.org However, the -p option means "use syslog" and takes no argument and the -r option does not exist. Also, very reasonably, the ntpdate script tries to fall back to sntp, but again the options are completely bogus: /usr/sbin/sntp -F -P no -r $1 There is no -F option. There is no -P option and the lowercase -p doesn't take an argument. There is no -r option. A working alternative is simply "sntp <server>". Here are my observations from using the GNOME desktop on 11.4 M6+:- 1. gnome-terminal - open a terminal in the home directory and enter cd and press TAB. The system-bell is heard in all its glory :) Workaround: Open "Edit > Profile preferences" and disable terminal-bell Note: Though terminal bell is enabled in 11.3, the loud system-bell is not heard when used similarly. 2. Gedit - The text editor also throws a loud beep when you try to use the use the keyboard to move the cursor to a non-existent line or column. I could figure out no obvious way to disable this. Expected Results: ful screen display (even non HD) I was said on the factory list "Since we use framebuffer during installation, i.e. fbdev X driver, it depends on your Video card's BIOS which resolutions are supported. Apparently your video card's BIOS does not support 1920x1080. Switching to native driver already during installation would make already the installation on a bunch of machines *impossible*. Temporarily using installations with broken native drivers via failsafe boot option (switching to vesa/fbdev driver) wouldn't work either. Investigating and fixing bugs in native drivers also couldn't be done. I know other distributors use the native driver already during installation.
