This is demonstrated with fillup-1.42-242.14 (provided with openSUSE 11.1). I've included a simple test case that demonstrates the problem. What this test case is supposed to do is override a few variables in a copy of /etc/sysconfig/SuSEfirewall2 and then display the diff. The variables do in fact get overridden, but there are a few other random changes to comments that should not have been applied, shown below. The issue was aknowledged and fixed by intel : http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2009Q1.html. Also, other people reporting the issue from the forums : http://forums.opensuse.org/hardware/laptop/396676-graphics-not-working-vaio… Is there a way to backport these drivers to get these laptops usable ? But I'll try to be as precise as possible: Hardware: Acer Extensa 3000, Graphics Card is Mobility Radeon 9700, Graphics Driver is the open source radeon driver! I can shorten this up: After wakeup the system wakes up smoothly - only the screen stays black. I played with all the s2ram options - none of them worked. I went thru all the combinations of -f -a x and -f -p -s / -f -p -m. I tried adding -v and even tried a combination of -a 3 and -p -s and so on. The ONLY thing I achieved is that the systems wakes up into a state where it is rebootable (as I said: without a display). The system wakes up to this state with: s2ram -f -p -s, -f -p -m and -f -p it hangs completely (only hardware reset possible) with -f -m and it starts the display with funny hopping colorful stripes with -f -s. the -v option can be added or not - this always has the same effect. is there a helpful logfile? As the systems probably starts behind the blank display, I should be able to copy a boot / wakeup process logfile, actually...? Are there some switches I could try? Thank you! Then usualy the cd must be erase before burning. Each time, I run a burning, K3b ask me to erase the CD, it's ok. Then the CD is erased, the tray open and close and the burning begin 1% and block. It is impossible to close K3b. I must use "kill" to close it. And it is impossible to run K3b then too ! I must restart the computer, the the cd is erase another time, the tray is open and close and the burning begins. The time all is ok and the burning finish with success.
