In case you mean this one: - GM45 Sony Vaio panels (known impacted models: VGN SR11M, SR19XN, FW140E/H, FW170J, FW235, Z11WN) startup fails: bug#17292. This issue is already fixed in X11:XOrg:sle11 project (xorg-x11-driver-video package). This is definitely a seperate issue. Maybe you uninstalled xkeyboard-config by accident. Just a wild guess. The fact that it works on your machine does mean there is no issue. You probably don't have a Vaio, right ? There are numerous bug reports concerning this driver. One that seems very similar to my issue was reported on Debian : http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist@lists.debian.org/msg602842.html I think there are potentially more users than only me that will be impacted by this issue. Moreover, they have no support for my language, so anyway it will be unusable to me. I am reporting this bug against openSUSE 11.1, which is stable, and having it work should not require to test some alphas version of packages. On this point, the factory repo is far from the quality of the unstable repo of some other distros. So, you shouldn't suggest it as a solution to a stable system. I will stick, at most, to a 2.6.30 kernel as it is the latest stable version, and I will do so with the XOrg packages. I don't want to dig further in this mess.
