After it logs the "system will be shutdown" message, the KDE GUI of the host is locked. I can, however, switch to the CTRL/ALT/F1 console, log in as root, and kill the VirtualBox process. Before the update of the kernel this worked just fine. The server side did not change at all only the client changed by updateing the kernel. Here an example what happens for a file xx that is on a NFS (V3) mounted filesystem: [~] 1006 > ll xx -rw-r--r-- 1 me employee 0 Apr 17 08:08 xx [krienke@bliss:~] 1007 > setfacl -m u:auser:r xx setfacl: xx: Invalid argument After this the ACL has not been set. The very same problem emerged after the update to the latest kernel eg on SLES10 SP2. Setting ACLs on local filesystems is no problem. The memory is not freed when terminating amarokapp via killall, not even after a couple of time. Even worse the massive memory usage causes massive page thrashing, so that the system becomes unusable until up to a reboot. At first there may be something wrong with the memory allocation. 'Amaroks' memory is supposed to be freed right after program termination (Perhaps it is just an error in terminating all child processes not affected by killall amarokapp). Second the paging strategy of Linux 2.6.27.21-0.1-default may deserve some attention. A singleton app must never compromise the whole system, no matter how much memory it asks for; i.e. page thrashing has to be avoided. If the memory needs of a singleton app can not be satisfied its process should be suspended automatically (user may choose to kill -SIGCONT it nonetheless). Letting an app alloc as much as 1,5 times of the physically provided main memory is no bad strategy but then avoid page thrashing and suspend the app if its working set exceeds the available main memory. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: Sometimes amarok-1.4.10-26.2.1 works well for a couple of invocations, then it fails for another couple of invocations. Thats not problem. That, what makes me angry, is he didn't try again. He shows up error window, I click on retry and with no problems he continues. But after about ten minutes is problem back again (on another package of course). I marked it for major, couse it's impossilble to start network installation and go away. I must sit at the computer and click on "Retry". This is Major feature broken. I tried two computers and three connections (O2, Cable TV, Wifi). I suggest, Yast on this kind of problems should sleep for a second and try again. Then for 5 seconds and try again and then show error. To be honest, I didn't met theese problems on real hardware, but i believe, whit bad connection should appeared there too. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start network installation in VirtualBox 2. put computer on normal internet connection, not in LAN whit server 3.
