Playback of .wav files has worked in Banshee and RealPlayer. I expected the same of a fairly vanilla installation of openSUSE 11.1/Gnome, but putting in an Audio-CD on both an x86_64 and a i386 installation (the same hardware as above) resulted in an error message box: Cannot mount Audio-disk Cannot find device /dev/sr0 Opening Nautilus shows the Audio-disk to the left But trying to right click and open it, the samme error message arrieves. (Eject works however). Also, I added the sisusb device as described at http://www.winischhofer.eu/linuxsispart4.shtml to the xorg.conf. However, I figured out the following two problems. 1) If I list both graphic devices (that of my laptop radeon and also the sisusb driver in the xorg.conf file, it does not work. The X server seems for me to crash. I have to press CTRL-ALT-DEL to shutdown. I found another bugreport where it was mentioned that the sisusb might have problems with two devices at the same time. So I reduced the xorg.conf and listed only the sisusb device and not the radeon device. Now when I entered startx, it seems to work. The X server starts up and my monitior shows the KDE 4.1 environment. However, there is still the following problem with sisusb: 2) When I move the mouse cursor or typing on the screen, the screen flickers with short delay. This means the following curious behavior: Mouse moved. About 4-5 seconds later the screen becomes black for 2-3 seconds (Not okay). Then, the KDE is shown again (Ok). I observed it with the usb mouse and keyboard as well as with laptop mouse pad and keyboard. I am a newbee, so please tell what traces could help to solve this problem or to find out what is the cause. I tried different resolutions with xorg.conf (800x600, 1024x768,1920x1200), nothing fixes the problem. What is the cause that the monitor becomes shortly black when I changed something on the screen? This is particularly annoying when multiple devices are unmounted at the same time, because when one of them is extracted, all the others will be automatically shown again on the desktop when nautilus is automatically restarted. There is no recordable CD or DVD." The CD is inserted and i can see on the icon the Blank CD-R Disc icon. The image is 651MB and the CD is a 700MB cd. I have burned CD's and DVD's with this unit in Windows and it worked fine. It also happens in Factory using the latest kernel in the customary repos. This does not happen in Factory using the build service's 2.6.26-rc8-9-pae i586 kernel.
