What ever I set the option for result when pushing the power button in gnome-power-manger (ask, suspend, hibernate...) The button appears to be ignored or there is no notification getting passed up that the button was pushed. It has Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5750 @ 2.00 GHz, 3 GB Dual channel DDR2 RAM, 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video card and 250 GB SATA Hard Disk. It came with Windows Vista Home Premium preinstalled. There's no way you can buy this laptop without having Windows Vista preinstalled. It had two partitions - C drive with Vista @ 110 GB and D drive with recovery at 10 GB. There was remaining unallocated space. I tried to dual-boot Vista with openSUSE 11 installed in the unallocated space but Yast said "cannot shrink the partitions due to inconsistent filesystems." So I formatted the hard disk clean with Gparted. Then allocated 30 GB for root and 6 GB for swap and installed the complete openSUSE 11 with all options on the DVD to the system. The complete installation took 45 minutes. My problem is as soon as I move the cursor through the touchpad in any desktop environment GNOME, KDE 3, KDE 4 or Xfce, the cursor automatically moves randomly in all directions and adds extra panels, opens different applications and stops. If I move the cursor again it again goes on displaying the same erratic behaviour. Then I killed the X server in all desktop environments by pressing CTRL, ALT, Backspace twice and rebooted. I went to the failsafe mode of openSUSE from Grub and booted in all the desktop environments and closed all those panels and applications. In failsafe mode, the cursor behaves normally like in any other laptop. But when I go back and boot the main openSUSE 11 kernel and into any of the desktop environments, the cursor again starts displaying that erratic behaviour. So what should I do now to stop this erratic behaviour of the cursor? This problem is not specific to openSUSE 11. The cursor displays the same erratic behaviour in Knoppix 5, NimbleX 2007, Slax server edition also. Interestingly when I run the openSUSE 10.3 Live DVD in Live mode in either GNOME or KDE 3, the cursor behaves normally. "Bj%C3%B6rn%20Afzelius" should be "Björn Afzelius". This is the first sub folder in alphabetical order containing a Swedish character. Furthermore when clicking the OK button in the error message, the folder displays only the subfolders without Swedish characters in their name. All "Swedish" folders with å,ä and ö in their name are "gone". Same shares are displayed correctly and without any error message if browsed with Konqueror/KDE3, even if Konqueror/KDE3 is started from inside a KDE4.1 session. Also, the same shares are mounted in my fstab with: //192.168.1.3/musiksamling /network/musiksamling cifs rw,iocharset=utf8,uid=1000,gid=100,user=myusername,password=mypassword. If I browse the mounted share /network/musiksamling/Artiser/ in Dolphin or Konqueror/KDE4 everything displays correctly without any errors. Additional information: My samba shares are situated on a NAS, LaCie S.A., Ethernet Disk mini, software version 1.1.2. For what its worth, a similar error message appears when browsing the same shares from Konqueror on my ASUS eeePC 900 running the original ASUS/Xandros distribution in Swedish. I don't know exactly what version of Konqueror they are using but I suppose it's a KDE3 version?
