I used to have a working backup. AS this is starts to get really annoying I did some investigation. After extracting the map.xml from the zip, xml parsers complain about several lines of <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40/strict.dtd"> I removed these lines, packed the zip and it works again, vym can open the map quite fine. It will be broken again when I make changes and save the map. You don't have to change any options here, just select Finish. You'll now notice that if you run ifconfig, your primary network interface is missing. In the case on my 3 test installations (including one remote server) this means that eth0 is deactivated and removed. If you go back into Network Settings, and not do anything. You'll notice that the network interface will appear again. I have labelled this bug as Major, because in the case of the remote server, I was no longer able to access it and it required physical intervention (a server reboot) to regain access to it. On the 11.0 machine that I have Xen installed on, restarting networking by /etc/init.d/network restart (or force-reload) did not resolve the issue, however on a 11.0 installation I have within Virtualbox, it did. There I disabled all but "present windows" (because that's the only effect I really like.) Then I hit 'Apply' and 'accept configuration' My screen went black and that's the way it stayed. I restarted, get through the login screen but cannot see my desktop any more, just a black screen with the mouse indicator. So I created a new user to reproduce this bug and I could reproduce it easily (did this twice). Other users and root still have their desktop when they login, only I have lost everything really, because their's not much I can do without desktop. This has been rolled out on 250+ workstations and so far (fingers crossed) I've got no reports of segfaulting gtk applications (before, both firefox, thunderbird and openoffice would break repeatedly). I am using ldap authentication in a dual-server setup using sync replication. Relevant lines from ldap.conf below: host ldap0.mydomain ldap1.mydomain bind_policy soft bind_timeout 3 As for nscd.conf (attached) the cache values have been found experimentally. The drawback of those values is that nscd consumes about 128MB of memory, which is an overkill, but at least it doesn't trip over itself every so often. For our systems, this configuration is a functioning workaround. Canorus uses cmake, which checks for swig in a few locations, including /usr/share/swig1.3, but not in /usr/share/swig/1.3.xx which is the install dir on SUSE. Well as long as I build locally I can deal with that by creating a symlink /usr/share/swig1.3 pointing at the actual swig dir. But this won't work with lbuild or the Build server of course. IMO it doesn't make sense to patch the cmake FindSWIG macro, because the swig minor version number in the name of the current swig install dir can change between SUSE versions, while "swig1.3" omits that and can be expected to stay for a while. I suggest to include the symlink "/usr/share/swig1.3", pointing at "/usr/share/swig/1.3.<minor version>" in the swig rpm.
