My laptop is connected to a local network, itself connected to the Internet using an ADSL modem/router, which takes care of NAT. Unfortunately, the router deletes the NAT entries after 15 minutes of inactivity. The value is hard-coded, I can't change it. This causes Kopete to lose its connection to the server after some time, without any warning. When I later change my status or attempt to chat with one of my contacts, Kopete complains about the connection loss. So basically Kopete is mostly unusable for me. Due to the common (kernel) code base you can use the packages for SLE10 hosted by ATI/NVIDIA also for openSUSE 10.1. And now the bad one. Since ATI/NVIDIA is concerned about needing to support drivers, which are hosted by them, it is *very* unlikely, that they will host RPMs for non-SLE product, because of the big driver matrix (n * openSUSE) X (o * driver_version) X (p * kernel_release) Therefore I suggest to host the RPMs for openSUSE > 10.1 on another server. packman might be a candidate for this. I've set this to critical, since the question, if we'll provide ATI/NVIDIA driver packages also for openSUSE > 10.1 comes quite often on the openSUSE mailing lists. It's nice to see we have these packages available for internal use, but it's even better to see a solution for our customers. The disk will boot, and comes up with the Gnome/KDE selection screen. As soon as I select either one (Doesn't matter which, the problem happens), the system shows a kernel panic. I've tested this several times on many systems and it's always the same. The opensuse 10.1 GM DVD works ok, as well the Suse Linux ("Pro") 10.1 dual layer DVD boot also works ok too. Just limited to "live" version. Here's some info on the box (currently running suse 10.1) - Linux TEST-XXX 2.6.16.13-4-smp #1 SMP Wed May 3 04:53:23 UTC 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz stepping 02 Brought up 2 CPUs Don't know what else you might need. The problem seems having been related to the IRQ assignement depending on a bios menu setting. HOTPLUG-OS=NO: no hotplug envents received by Suse 10.1; standard setting HOTPLUG-OS=YES: hotplugging, but strange behaviour All hardware identified and installed correct (now best working on P2B-F). f.e. network card showed "Link detected: yes" by ethtool but could not even ping anything. my assumption: IRQ assignment problem Installing Windows on the same machine: works with HOTPLUG-OS=NO, only! The "search whole folder" is a nice thing, but I mostly need a quick "search body of message" search. I once googled how to do that, but cannot find it any more. The default key binding for this in most mailers and other applications is CTRL-f. According to autofs man pages it is possible to add "+map" in order to specified another NIS map (the default is normaly auto.master). I've tried this but it doesn't work... I've checked out in /etc/init.d/autofs and the getmounts_files function doesn't extract "+map" information in /etc/auto.master. And the getmounts_nis functions always uses auto.master : "ypcat -k auto.master | sed -e '/^\/-[ \t]/d'..."
