Hello everybody!
I have read the archives regarding the re-design of the partitioner during
installation and after. I could not yet find a post that tells whether there
was a decision on providing a live CD that allows the user to install
opensuse or not. Anyway, it will not happen for 10.3 as it seems so here is
my little ux-bug that I think could still be fixed for 10.3.
I filed a bug that it is not possible to install opensuse on two different
partitions that reside on two different harddisks. The answer from the dev
was that he does not see any need for a change since this can easily be
archived via the expert mode. The latter statement proves my point.
A non-expert operation should not require expert tools. Hence there is a
usability bug. I made some suggestion in the bug report on how to solve this
issue. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=299612
I'll add some points to the live cd section of the ux wiki since I think this
is one of the major decisions to be taken for the next opensuse release after
10.3. If there is a move to a live cd IMO it does not make that much sense to
put a lot of effort into the installation process as it works now, including
the issue mentioned above.
