[opensuse] Task bar no longer sorted in 15.2
Yesterday, I upgraded 2 systems to Leap 15.2. I've noticed a couple of differences on the task bar. First off, open items are no longer sorted alphabetically. Also, apps running on other virtual desktops are no longer shown on the task bar. For example, I have 4 virtual desktops in KDE. If I have something running on desktop 2, it's not in the task bar for desktop 1. Why were these changed? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

they *are* configurable via <right><click> on the taskbar also systemsettings5 -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Where are either of those? I'm referring to the running apps that are listed on the task bar, not apps I can run from it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Right-click anywhere on the task bar, and click on "Configure Task Manager". De-select any filters that are selected, and set Sorting to "alphabetically". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I've got the other desktops showing, but sorting on alpha doesn't seem to have made any difference. Will I have to log out first? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I don't think you should have to, but I'm not certain. First try setting the sort to some other choice, maybe try "manual" to see if that works, then set it back to alphabetical. If that still doesn't work, then log out. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It was originally Manual, which I changed to alpha. I don't often log out of this system, as it runs 24/7. I'll try on my ThinkPad later. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Apparently, log out/in is needed for that change to work. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

what do you not understand about <right><click> on the taskbar? a menu will pop up. what do you not understand about starting the app systemsettings5? -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Hi James, if you right-click on the taskbar and go to settings (Alt+D,S), you can actually change its behaviour. Just click what you want. Simon Am 04.07.20 um 18:48 schrieb James Knott:

These are configurable, but perhaps they changed the defaults. Right click on the task bar, and select "Configure Task Manager" Then click on "Behavior". You should be able to configure both of those the way that you want them. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Under behaviour, I found Sort, which was Manual and I changed to Alphabetically. It didn't make any difference. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Sorry, what's the 'task bar'? What desktop are you running? You really need t report adequate information when asking for help. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Seriously? It's that object at the bottom of your screen, where you can switch between applications with just a mouse click, and start new ones with only 2 or 3 of them -- or just one, if you add a link to an app into the object. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
