The Boss wants to record some streaming audio from the Beeb (BBC) and then burn it to disk. IIRC there's a way to do this in Linux, but I don't have the foggiest idea. Any suggestions or ideas? BTW it's a 10.0 system Mike

MPlayer will do this very nicely. IIRC, something like: mplayer [URL] -dumpstream -dumpfile [filename] I've found this works very nicely for BBC files (usually RealAudio). Now I need to get an actual URL out of the Beeb. <sigh> I thought there was a way to tap into the stream as it was coming in and put a copy on disk, possibly tapping the sound out to the speakers as the input for this. Google has a lot of help, but not I'm not seeing anything simple enough for a non-tech like the Boss to use. Mike

Download the .ra file that the beeb puts up a link to, then open it in a text editor. In there will be the URL of the actual sound file. HTH
Perfect John. I can get that from the recent shows section as the program (NorthAnger Abby) is going to be broadcast a few times. Many Thanks Mike
