X does not start and claims not to detect the attached monitor. flicker in dual monitor setup with X1600XT

Hi, We've recently upgraded all the workstations in my department to nice new HP machines with X1600XT PCIe cards (RV530 chipset I think), dual 24" HP LP2465 monitors, and Fedora 8. So far they've worked great with the RadeonHD 1.1 drivers, until we went to an extended desktop and started using them full time. On all of our machines the right display (i.e. second display) has a weird flicker problem. Every few minutes horizontal black lines will randomly flash quickly across the screen, and maybe once an hour the screen completely looses its signal for about a second and then comes back on. I've ruled out the monitors or the videocard/workstation at this point. Also, the fact that it happens on all the machines leads me to believe its a driver issue not faulty hardware. Using the same monitors and RadeonHD release on my X1650 AGP in an older workstation never exhibited the problem once. I'm guessing it's this particular chipset or maybe the fact that it's dual DVI out. The AGP card without the problem is VGA/DVI. The issue is always in the secondary port. From xrandr: DVI-I_2/digital connected 1920x1200+1920+0 519mm x 324mm 1920x1200 60.0*+ I'd love to help trace this issue if no one has experience the problem before. I searched through the archives and haven't found anything similar yet, so I'm guessing this is new. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to fix this because it's very frustrating and I love using the RadeonHD's. If more info is required, please ask away. Testing radeonHD with RS690

Hi everyone, Is XAA the 2D that is newly supported by radeonHD ? glxgears is weird with today's git release fluctualtes between ~540 - ~630 FPS glxgears uses the cpu entirely as well but, the cpu usage with radeonhd is different from fglrx & radeon since its dual core, with other drivers it cyclically switches cpu with glxgears, but with radeonhd its using the same CPU throughout the glxgears run weird ? I have attached the xorg.log (logverbose 7), anything interesting ? -JoJo

Roadmap

Hi, I'm new to the radeonhd driver. I know that it is quite new and still under heavy development but I managed to install it and my computer is really fast now thanks to the radeonhd driver. My question is if there are any roadmap plans when there will be things like 2d/3d acceleration for the ATI x1950 XT. On task switching, visual artifacts appear for a split second on either or both of the screens. These artifacts are either other areas of the framebuffer or horizontal, black or white lines at a random vertical position. These lines, a few pixels high, push down the entire remaining content of the screen for the split second they exist, causing flickering. This happens only when hardware acceleration (either XAA or EXA) is enabled. Card PnPID is 7187:174B:3000. Looks like there is some kind of corruption. The current display content starts to glow and finally look totally disordered. Unfortunately I made the big mistake to not think about a backup of the old (working) git source or to backup the working .so driver files. I tried to find a patch which causes this problem (reverting the changes from within the last 48 hours one by one) but without success. The change that's causing this problem has occured within the last 48 hours. Sorry that I can't say anything more specific.
