Bug ID: 61470
Summary: Driver does not turn on LCD backlight on resume
QA Contact: xorg-team(a)lists.x.org
OS: Linux (All)
Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Created attachment 75535
lspci output AMD A8-3520M
I am running Ubuntu 12.10 on a Dell Vostro 3555 laptop with a backlit LCD
display. lspci reports the graphic controller as:
VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI BeaverCreek
[Mobility Radeon HD 6620G]
AMD A8-3520M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics
The Ubuntu driver code utility does not report the software level of the Xorg
driver. The Linux kernel is 3.5.0-25.
When the system resumes, usually because of opening the lid of the laptop, but
also if I manually suspend and resume without closing the lid, the backlight is
not turned on.
I do not have the expertise to know whether this is related to bug 43829.

I am a little frustrated. Since days I try to get the right driver for
my graphic card to work.
System: Debian 6.0 on Thinkpad T500 with Mobility Radeon HD 3650
I did everything so far suggested in the world wide web. I tried many
wikis on that subject. I never had success. I always got a black screen.
Since I am very inexperienced with x11, I don't know what to do anymore.
Could somebody please help me.
