Hi!
I am the (not so proud) owner of a new radeon HD 2600 pro from Gecube with an
hdmi port (no adapter needed).
The logfile states this _is_ an unsupported card.
I am trying to do a dual head setup:
* VGA_1: Touchscreen (800x600)
* DVI-D_1 (this is the name for the hdmi port): link to the beamer (720p)
When I start up I have two 800x600 screens.
When I change the VGAs resolution using
randr --output VGA_1 --mode <bla>
I change BOTH resolutions.
However, when I change the DVIs resolution using
randr --output DVI-D_1 --mode 720p
it switches to the correct resolution, leaving the VGA untouched.
This wouldn't be a problem but I guess that's why I always get two 800x600
screens on X startup (which is a problem, because my beamer can't handle that
resolution).
Also, when I maximize a window on the beamer after the resolution switch it
gets still maximized to 800x600 und ends up stuck in the left upper corner of
the screen. But that may as well be related to (non-) xinerama (doing a
recompile of all xinerama aware applications right now).

When I do glxinfo I have direct rendering: No
It seems there is non 3d acceleration because when I do glxgears I have a
result of approx. 430FPS on an CPU: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3400+
(2411.19-MHz 686-class CPU) with 1Go Ram
I would like to know if one day there will be the 3d support for this card
beacause if no I will bring it back to the shop.

I was trying out Egbert's latest changes for reading the PCI ROM, And I thought
it useful to report that the PCI ROM still reads back as all zeros on my G5.
This is however a nice improvement over the previous ROM read stuff, that hung
the machine ;-).

On a random number of switches between users there would be appear a blank
screen and a switch to one of the terminals and restarting X would do.
However, continuing switching between users ends in a terminal system freeze
with blank screen and a cursor blinking high in the left corner and the only
cure there is is a HW reset.
There is nothing in the logs on the subject to look for a cause.
Similar behaviour happened when I was using the fglrx driver (regardless of
version). I spotted a similar problem in Ubuntu's launchpad:

In my case I now use radeonhd driver, v1.1.0, git updated on 28.12.2007 and the
problem persists. The fglrx module is not loaded in the system and the xorg
files and configurations are attached to a Bug #13853.

I have been using radeonhd on my internal display for months without a
problem, but now I got an external TFT and cannot get it to work. xrandr
tells me the display shows 1680x1050 pixels:

Hi,
I'm trying to use an ATI card with dual head, but after
xrandr --auto --output DVI-I_2/analog --right-of DVI-I_1/analog
both monitors show the left half of the virtual screen. After
xrandr --auto --output DVI-I_2/analog --left-of DVI-I_1/analog
both show the right half of the screen.
xrandr --output DVI-I_2/analog off
works fine, and turns the monitor on the right off.

Both are the exact same issue. The memory available on the card does
not equal the memory we can access from the cpu directly. Whatever is
in the non-directly-addressable part can be used by the card itself,
but we currently are not doing anything that could make use of that
memory anyway.

I have no idea whether this is an RandR FAQ, a known RandR issue, or an
issue that still has to be dug out. I hope that Matthias can shed some
light on this one.
