List, Andrea, I not sure if this post made it to the list. I thought I
replied to ALL, but maybe not.
Some new developments are detailed below.

Hello list, monitors!
This is my third post to this list, second as a new subscriber, and
hopefully
to the right address now.
I'm not expecting the previous posts to show up on the list. Sorry
if this
duplicates!
I have 12.3-64 on i7 3770 tower using kernel 3.7.10 with the "stock"
lxde desktop.
12.3 installs brasero with lxde, but entering a blank optical disk pops
up a menu offering CD/DVD Creator to burn the blank.
CD/DVD Creator works fine, but I cannot invoke it myself except with the
blank media. This app will burn mp3 files, but it is a "phantom" app.
By that I mean, CD/DVD Creator is not shown in any of the lxde menus.
Somewhere there should be configuration files that control the menus.
If I knew where to look in those config files, I should find the
executable name of CD/DVD Creator.
I'm also a member of an lxde list. Other members there with different
distros use xfburn as their CD/DVD Creator. I've installed xfburn, but
it doesn't burn mp3 files either.
Neither me nor brasero can find the plug-in it needs to burn mp3 files.
Being able to “fixâ€ン brasero is also an alternate option. I've
installed
the opensuse mp3 package for gnome.
My question is in the post title! Hope to hear back! Heboland.

Your suggestion about checking for installed gstreamer packages would be
I assume to make brasero burn mp3 files. CD/DVD creator already burns
mp3, but I can only invoke it by inserting blank media.
This is what brasero displays when it's ask to burn an mp3:
“Brasero - New Audio Disc Project requires an additional plugin for this
operation
The following plugin is required:
MPEG-1 Layer # (MP3)decoder
Do you want to search for this now?”
If I let brasero search for it's plugin, it can't find what it needs!
I have lots of gstreamer rpms installed. This is the list:

Regarding the identity of CD/DVD Creator, I ran ps -ef > before.txt,
then stuffed in a blank optical disk to invoke CD/DVD Creator and opened
it. With it open I ran ps -ef > after.txt.
The diff file looks like this:

The suspicious entry seems to be gvfsd-burn. That's in /usr/lib and it's
not in my executable command path.
Could this be related to CD/DVD Creator? Heboland.
On another site I got a response showing how to invoke the CD/DVD Creator. The
terminal invocation does result in warnings I think are due to not having all
of the nautilus environment installed.
This is the code suggested on the other site and the terminal response:
frank[5005] nautilus --no-default-window --no-desktop burn:///
** (nautilus:1513): WARNING **: Error retrieving accessibility bus address: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.a11y.Bus was not provided by any .service files
** (nautilus:1513): CRITICAL **: atk_bridge_adaptor_cleanup: assertion `inited' failed
frank[5006]
This code string does in fact launch the CD/DVD Creator, so it is a part of nautilus.
I marked the other thread solved, but I would still like to fix these complaints
and put this command or a suitably modified into my lxde menu.
Since I joined this site, I have not received a single post except my first post
copied back to me. Am I on the receiving list?
Heboland.
